Release Internet Archive - archive.org

My other issue is the video constantly crashing.  More often than not when you advance a video (by clicking on the timeline) it will (freeze) crash.  Other times hitting the stop button will cause the program to crash.  Usually the only way a video won't crash is if once you click play you don't touch anything until the video ends.

The video format I choose doesn't seem to matter.

Is this happening to anyone else?  Thanks

Kodi 21/Win 10/IA Alpha 3

Yep Kodi 21.0 is quite unstable as it is using the latest FFMPEG, crashes often on videoplayback. Even HLS streams that work fine in Kodi 19, refuse to play with Videoplayer in Kodi21 and you have to switch to Inputstream Adaptive to play in such cases which is a pain to control inside the addon
Hopefully they stabilize it in the next point release

Thanks for responding.  I'm not sure if the crashing wasn't happening before I went to Kodi 21 but I appreciate your explanation and hope this can be rectified in Kodi

The plugin.video.archive.org addon has now been merged into the Kodi repo-plugins git. You can install from the official repo from now on

@gujal

Is there a thread on the forum where I can draw attention to this and beat the drum to have the issue seen.

This huge resource can barely be used because Kodi can't playback videos without crashing.

Can someone from the Kodi side have a look and see what is going on with this.  It would be good to have an explanation that expands on what gujal has said and to see if there is a road to solving the issue.

Or....Am I totally wrong and this addon works fine for other folks.  I'd appreciate hearing from others who have used or are using the Internet Archive addon and see what they've experienced.

Thanks

It is no longer hacked and you can access video and audio now. They will play but as I posted above, crash frequently just as they did before the site was hacked.

Thanks to hanx for finding the solution to my issue of the Internet Archive addon (and then Kodi) constantly crashing when forwarding/rewinding and stopping.  I hope it will work for anyone else having the same problem.

Here is his post from the Video Support section:

I had similar problems when using Internet Archive with Kodi 21.1 on Windows 10.

I resolved it by disabling http2 in advancedsettings.xml.

This file is located in your Kodi userdata folder. It doesn't exist by default so you may need to create it yourself.

E.g C:\Users\hanx\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\userdata\advancedsettings.xml

Add the following lines...

<advancedsettings version="1.0">
<network>
  <disablehttp2>true</disablehttp2>
</network>
</advancedsettings>

The setting turns off Multiplexing. Lookup difference between http1 and http2 for better explanation.
