Best Kodi Media Player Options 2024
Hm, I would need some help with choosing boxes as I need to update my 2 existing boxes running CE.

1 box would need 4K and DV. The Homatics box looks like a good affordable option compared to the Ugoos AM6B.

The other box is fine with 1080P, no DV.  Kinhank G1 would be a good cheap option? Noticed it has CE support.

Both is future proof?
 Thankful for any input.

Use code GSG03
my shopping basket gets me US $80.09 (20% VAT to UK)

items I got

(not buying them just wanted to see final cost)
For those of us outside the EU and US the cost of a plug adapter needs to be added too,
not a major expense but something to also consider.

I'd expect the used market to drop in value quick! my odroid N2+ is going for like £85
It's slightly faster, doesn't have android support like the Kinhank G1 or AV1 and that'll be like £62 lol

the demand for Odroid N2+ will dwindle, can see it going for £50 before year end
I wonder if Odoird will think to use the s905x4 themselves.
and how many clones will pop up once coreelec have official support for DV

best hardware news for a long time! it's not so much the tech but the price that is so ground breaking. to get everything you want for $80
hell yeah!
also that kinhank G1 box is ugly af!

Here is a good summary of where things are right now:
https://discourse.coreelec.org/t/best-de...2024/52405

Also apparently the Kinhank G1 actually has a gigabit ethernet chip but the 100mb limitation is at a firmware level. The current firmware is from July 2023 so it seems updates for that box might be non existent.

good find! even without no updates from Kinhank. we should get good updates from Coreelec right?
I'm thinking the demand would rise now for this box. Imagine if Kinhank added firmware support for the hardware, charge $2 more per box. It would be
awesome! shall we write to them about this?

seems zlxyc at coreelec has his Kinhank G1 running at 1000Mb Ethernet already!

wow you could be looking at $60 all in for cheapest all rounder device!

Seems like there are different revisions of the Kinghank G1, some have working gigabit in CE, some do not. There are examples of both in the CE discussion forums.

yeah I've been keeping a close eye on that thread. I find it so exciting to see this transition. I read that the hardware is their put could be PCB thing.
fact we have it working on some means theirs a chance they can figure out why it's not working on others and in future we can have it working for all?

If they get it working for all, then wow. I did hear from Astrotrain saying that instead of working on one box they probably going to see how they can get FEL on most amlogic devices?

I wonder if Kinhank will raise prices once demand multiplies.

Shoot! I just bought a am6b+ 😂😂

Maybe I'll just sell all my shields and upgrade with various boxes lol

Does the Homatics & Kinhank G1 use the same chips? Sorry if this has been asked before and answered

For someone who intends to run the GUI at native 4K with uncompressed artwork, will AM6B+ be up to the task?

Should be. Only issue I've run into w/AM6B+ is how long it takes (guessing about 7-8 minutes) to scan (update & clean) my video library. But, I also have 2800+ movies & almost 120 TV shows.

On the exciting development about more boxes supporting FEL DV, took a chance, and just ordered a Kinhank G1 to try off AliExpress for $62 + tax shipped.

awesome! great price, hope you have gigabit working!
that's one thing I wish we had, more grunt. My Odroid N2+ is slower than AM6B+ and on trakt lists that are like 1000, it takes like 10 seconds. would love to cut that in half

I understand everyone is hyped over the s905x4 news, but does anyone have any insight on the AI scaling capabilities of the Ugoos SK1? I wasn't even aware that it had the ability until a friend sent me a few foreign language videos from YouTube to get my opinion. I only speak English, so it is hard to follow. Just wondering if anyone knows if it will be comparable to the Nvidia Shield.

You can see some of the settings in this video, I haven't seen an English video that goes into the subject and see nothing on the Ugoos website.
