Version 1.0.18 of the Mezzmo Artwork Checker has been uploaded to GitHub. This
version has a minor update to support the new Kodi Additional Artwork feature
in the Mezzmo Kodi addon. Previously the artwork counts in the statistics page
would not account for the extra artwork in the UserPoster folder. This version
now detects and calculates them properly.




You can download the release zipfile directly from GitHub here.

If there is interest, I will add the ability to fetch the additional artwork from
fanart.tv using the NFO creator capability within the Mezzmo Artwork Checker.
This includes clearlogo, banner, keyart and the other additional Kodi artwork.

The Mezzmo Artwork Checker is another tool in the Mezzmo / Kodi ecosystem
which provides a superior way to easily manage your actor / actress artwork
without the need to rescrape your library.  It continually tracks when the last
time artwork was checked for an actor / actress and checks the oldest first. 
It supports TMDB and IMDB (with your key) and allows for checking up to
1,000 images per run.  You can then preview the artwork before copying it
to Mezzmo to be instantly available to all clients (Kodi and non-Kodi). 

It also includes CSV reporting which allows you to see all artwork , see
what artwork files are associated with which actor and which movie/TV
episode or similar an actor starred in.  Click here to learn more.

Version 1.0.5, of the Mezzmo TV Show Trailers Channel , has been published. This is a bug fix
update to address a couple of issues related to managing the number of trailers to keep.

You can download the Mezzmo TV Show Trailers Channel version 1.0.5 here.

Upgrade instructions for the client software can be found here. There are no changes to the
server software in this release.

Version 1.0.5 updates

• Fixed a bug where the Airing Today and Currently Airing TV Show categories were not
honoring the configuration trailer keep limit setting.
• Fixed a bug where an exception error would occur if a trailer file being deleted, during
the limit checking, didn't exist on disk and had a non-ASCII character in the file name
which couldn't be encoded by the local computer code page. This would cause the
number of trailers to exceed the config file limit setting.


The new Wiki, supporting this new channel, is complete. You can find details there for
How it works, Getting Started, Running the channel and more.

Mezzmo channels are a convenient way to add functionality and seamless features
to Kodi and non-Kodi clients centrally without loading addons and similar on each
Kodi instance.  Just load the channel on Mezzmo and go.

Mezzmo TV Show Trailers channel wiki

An updated version of the Mezzmo Kodi addon for Kodi v19+ (v2.2.0.8) has been
posted on GitHub. This version contains a few key new enhancements including
improved centralized actor artwork management.

*** Important Notes***

Please note, as mentioned previously, there will begin to be differences in features
between the Kodi 18 and Kodi 19+ versions of the Mezzmo Kodi Addon. Feature
differences will continue to grow and the Kodi 18 version is now bug fix only updates.
Version 2.2.0.8 is the second Kodi 19 release without a corresponding Kodi 18 version.

A new Wiki page Managing Your Artwork has been added to assist with better
utilizing all of the artwork management capabilities between Mezzmo and the
Mezzmo Kodi Addon. This Wiki page should provide a number of tips, techniques
and information on how to streamline artwork management. The additional artwork
management capabilities of v2.2.0.8 build upon the existing capabilities highlighted
in this Wiki page, Feedback is welcomed.


v2.2.0.8 Kodi 19+ Highlights

• Added support for Kodi 22 Piers interim development builds
• Added total Mezzmo record count to status display when manually syncing Mezzmo
database to Kodi library.
• Added automatic generation of actor thumb records in the Kodi art table from
Mezzmo. Now all Kodi actors with Mezzmo artwork will display the actor image
in the Kodi actor browse view. Previously the actor images only displayed in
the Video Information cast view for Kodi library items. These features allow
centralized management of all Kodi actor artwork across multiple Kodi instances
and / or Kodi versions leveraging Mezzmo's flat actor artwork structure
(i.e. multiple images not required for the same actor in different movies,
episodes etc..).


If you have version 1.1.4.4 or 2.1.4.4 installed (or higher) and automatic updates
are enabled this update will be automatic over the next 24 hrs. Otherwise please
use the links below for manual installation.

There are separate links for the Kodi 18 and Kodi 19 versions. The Kodi 18 version is based upon the
Kodi 19 v2.2.0.6 code.

Feedback and feature requests are always welcome. I would like to understand how many of you use
the addon to play music from Mezzmo ? Also I am interested in whether folks would like the option to
sync live channels to Kodi in native mode. They would have to be added as a movie entry in the Kodi
database since live streams don't have a their own Kodi database. For now they are available in GUI
mode within the Mezzmo Kodi addon where you can vie them right from the Mezzmo server.

You feedback is used to help guide future feature development.

v2.2.0.9 Kodi 19+ Highlights

• Added full Mezzmo options to context menu items when searching videos. Previously
only a subset of options were available when searching. Now searching and browsing
have the same set of context menu options.
• Added the ability to mark music files watched and unwatched when viewing search
results. Previously this was only available when browsing via GUI. This will
also clear the music bookmarks when marking unwatched. Music bookmarks and the
ability to resume music tracks is generally not available with native Kodi. It is
fully supported with the Mezzmo Kodi addon, regardless of the music track length.
• Fixed issue where certain video searching context menu actions would cause the addon
to drop out of GUI mode. Now all search context menu actions will return you to the
same search results when the context menu action is complete. This includes all of
the new search context menu actions added above to match the browsing context menu.
• Updated the addon setting search criteria labeled album to include TV series and
moviesets. The album criteria is for music. TV Series and movie sets are for
videos. The album search setting has always searched for both audio and video
items (if selected) but the selection option was just labeled album.
• Updated maximum search results addon setting from a slider to a spinner control
with specific setting limits. Thus making it easier to select whole number limits.

Per some requests an initial test release of the Mezzmo Artwork Checker in an exe format for
Windows x64 platforms has been posted on GitHub as version 1.0.19 test.

I would appreciate some users testing this format. If you are currently using the native
Python version, just download the zip file and extract the mezzmo_actor.exe file into
the same folder as the mezzmo_actor.py file.

You should then be able to run the Mezzmo Artwork Checker like normal using the exe
format vs. the .py format. 

The purpose of this format is that users didn't want to load Python onto their computers
that were running the artwork checker.  With this exe version that is no longer required. 
If this format is successful I will look to release the Mezzmo Trailer Checker and other
Mezzmo Channels client software in a similar distribution method. 

The Mezzmo Artwork Checker is a tool designed to help you manage the capabilities of Mezzmo.
This tool communicates with your Mezzmo server, maintains a listing of actors / actresses in
Mezzmo (along with what movies / TV shows in which they appear), checks to see if Mezzmo
has an image for them, tracks the last time the Mezzmo Artwork Checker checked the status
of the artwork and will fetch an image from TMDB / IMDB if none was found on Mezzmo. The
images are stored in the Mezzmo Artwork Checker IMDB and TMDB folders. Once reviewed
they can be copied to the Mezzmo server UserPoster folder and instantly become available
to all Mezzmo clients (Kodi and non-Kodi).

The Mezzmo Kodi Addon will sync the image URLs on Mezzmo to all Kodi clients via the
background sync process for Kodi native mode operation. The Mezzmo Artwork Checker
has a complete set of statistics to help manage large library, has detailed reporting / logging
and many other features to maximize your viewing pleasure.  The Mezzmo Artwork Checker
is currently managing over 80K actor / actress images for me Across all Kodi clients from a
central point.

tool with the "trailer" command and everything else is automatic.

I only support the Mezzmo Kodi addon and associated tools, not the Mezzmo server software itself.  For help with that you can write Mezzmo Support at [email protected] or visit their support forum.  I've not heard of a similar report but I also don't know how many folks are still running Win 7.  It's a little hard for me to help without knowing more about what was going on during the crash.  That's a better conversation for the Mezzmo support forums,.

I am not familiar with a Ziddo player but it looks like it's an Android media player.  I would think you could either load Kodi on it or the Mezzmo Android native client.  Again the Mezzmo support folks could help with this for the Android client.

I understand completely about if it ain't broke.  Unfortunately I have a T-shirt which says "Engineer's Motto:  If it ain't broke, take it apart and fix it"    I'll look around and see if I still have a Windows 7 VM image where I can try loading a copy of Mezzmo.

The final release version 1.0.19 of the Mezzmo Artwork Checker and version 0.0.25
of the Mezzmo Trailer Checker have been posted to GitHub.  Both of these releases
now are being delivered in both native Python and Windows x64 exe formats.  There
are no functionality updates or bug fixes in these releases, just code changes to
support the Windows x64 exe distribution format.  

Mezzmo Artwork Checker v1.0.19
Mezzmo Trailer Checker v0.0.25

The associated Mezzmo Artwork Checker and Mezzmo Trailer Checker wiki pages have
been updated to reflect the new distribution format. There are no differences in
functionality or commands between the release versions other than either the .py
or .exe file extension.

Mezzmo has a lot of inherent flexibility allowing users to manage folder
and playlist information from the GUI, via NFO files, internal hierarchical
relationships, dynamic updating and similar. These all work great and 
changes are instantly seen by all Kodi and non-Koidi clients but problems
can occur like accidentally updating a parent folder description where
you don't to have the child folder descriptions also get updated.

You could do a full restore or fix via the GUI but I wanted to have an easier
way to view and mass update folder / playlist data or protect your data
from accidental changes without resorting to a full database restore
which might include other changes you have made

Enter a new tool I am developing called Mezzmo Folder Manager which
will have the following initial features:

• The ability to backup / restore all Mezzmo playlist / folder description
information with up to 10 saved versions
• Sync Mezzmo Folder Manager to Mezzmo either via menu driven or
command line for batch operations
• Export playlist or folder data to CSV file for easy viewing or making bulk
updates
• CSV file import of playlist or folder information
• Available in native Python and Windows x64 EXE formats


This new tool should provide a lot more granular control over your folder
and playlist information. The initial release will only support bulk updating
folder or playlist descriptions. However, the CSV exports will show associated
poster and backdrop artwork files, parent / child relationships and more.

I am hoping to have an initial release available later next week for testing.

Mezzmo TVShow Trailers channel wiki

I've created a new Wiki page called Mezzmo Ecosystem under the Mezzmo Kodi addon Wiki. The goal
of this new page is to provide a single place where you can find information on all of the available
Mezzmo Channels, Tools and Utilities. The page has a section for channels which describes how they
work and provides a listing of available channels, including where to get them. Some notable channels
are iHeart radio, Ted Talks, Movie Trailers and more.  Channels are an easy way to provide content to
Kodi without the need for addons on each Kodi instance.  If there is interest, some addon functionality
can be ported to Mezzmo channels for easier administration and cleaner Kodi installations and access by
non-Kodi clients.

Another section called Tools & Utilities provides a listing of available library, artwork and similar applications
which can be used with Mezzmo to improve these functions. For instance the Mezzmo Artwork Checker
provides an automated way to track and download new actor / actress artwork without rescraping your
media.
