every time i sign into the addon with my YT account the addon becomes unable to play any videos however when I'm signed out i can play videos just fine. I have already made sure it's not an API issue and i changed nothing in the Kodi system but i think the issue might be connected to some google privacy settings i recently changed. Unfortunately i don't remember what exactly i changed. If anyone has an idea what setting it might have been or if it could be from another cause i would be very grateful for a response

i managed to fix my problem it seems my version was simply outdated and updating to 7.1.1.1-unofficial fixed the issue. For those who want to know my Kodi version is 21.0.0 and im running it on a Raspberry pi 4

I'm using the Youtube addon 7.1.1.1 on libreELEC Omega 21.1.0 and cannot play kids focused channel videos.  I can however play all other videos.  Are there any solutions for this?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

With newer versions of the addon, from the testing or the unofficial repo, the content type is once again being set to episodes rather than videos which it should always be set to... No video addon should ever set content types other than videos. Other content types are reserved for library content and will mess with skins.

Can this be reverted again, please? 😊

All - v7.1.1.3 is now available that should address the playback issues some people have been experiencing.
https://github.com/anxdpanic/plugin.vide...g/v7.1.1.3

Note that without providing debug logs and a clear explanation of the issues you are experiencing there is no way to resolve these issues. If you want something fixed provide a log.

-------

@Chillbo - That is the explicit aim of the unofficial version of the addon. A non-unofficial version will use a video content type as normal. I'll need to check, but the the testing repo should not contain unofficial versions, while the unofficial repo will. As an aside, what skin issues are you seeing?

@Oversized - Post a link to a debug log. No assistance can be provided when you provide so little information about your issue or your device specific setup.

@jim_p and @doko-desuka - There is no need to modify the addon to achieve what you want, this is already built-in functionality. YouTube > Settings > General > Stream features > Enable VP9. This is also set automatically if you just use the Setup Wizard and choose the h264 only preset, which was created specifically for RPi 1/2 devices.

@jim_p - Yes, please advise what other strings are missing that you have noticed.

@izprtxqkft - It is not straightforward to backport the minimum set of playback related fixes to the currently available version on the Kodi repository, so the larger changeset will take time to make its way through reviews. It is also not broken for everyone. A minimal update just to show a popup is also not helpful - the addon already shows a popup to run the Setup Wizard if needed and most people seemingly just ignore it. Thanks for directing people to newer versions btw.

@RManPT - The Play from here change is unlikely to be changed back. It mirrors the way Kodi itself works in respecting the current sort order and starting position in a directory listing. If you want to choose this yourself then you can open the context menu on the folder and choose Play all rather than opening the folder then selecting Play from here from the context menu of a video within the folder.

@kadeschs - All of your comments are already addressed by the wiki links and FAQ. If you want speedier automatic updates use one of the available repositories that are provided for that purpose.

@captainf - I am aware of what the Support alternative player setting does since I created it. Doesn't change the fact that this also needs support from the external player as well, and VLC won't work properly for this while mpv will. The next beta version will make the HLS streams available to external players, which VLC can play.

@ip-cress - If you can play videos using InputStream.Adaptive now then it means that whatever was happening with your local network that prevented this addon from starting the http server it uses has been resolved. If it happens again please provide another debug log.

@davorf - The next beta version should allow for improved pagination of Recommendations.

If I have missed anyone else, feel free to ask again.

Thx for the reply regarding this issue and thank you for your hard work on this addon that I use myself daily!
I assumed the issue was only present in the unofficial repo, but it showed up when installing the addon from the official testing repo as well.

It depends on the skin which issues you see. E.g. the OSMC Skin I'm maintaining relies on content types to provide certain views only for certain content - or rather specific versions of a view. If the episodes view type is being set, the skin will offer a special list view designed to show information only present for episodes scraped into the Kodi library. The YouTube addon obviously doesn't provide this information as it's not TV show episodes it lists...
But it also means: There's no chance of switching views with our skin anymore, if the content type has been manipulated. The amount of views we offer depends entirely on the content type - the reason for it being that we'd like to offer only view types useful for certain content types, not all of them at all times. If a wrong content type is being set by an addon, this will mess with the skin's intent.

Bottom line: If a skin uses content types for things like these (and I know, not all skins do, so one might not notice), addons setting their own content types which are reserved for other purposes by Kodi will really mess with things. Addons shouldn't try and circumvent basic Kodi guidelines for addons and skins. The same applies to forced view types as well as hard-coded colour tags provided by an addon. That should be the skin's business really. 😊

Hi. That does put any potential H264/mp4 first on the Dash manifest before any VP9/webm, and that's good. The other thing that modification did was to reverse the height preference for VP9, to list the smallest stream heights first and put the biggest stream heights last.

The reasoning is: "Since my device is slow in decoding VP9, if there are no playable H264 streams then at least try the smallest VP9 stream so it's watchable" -- because a 360 height VP9 can keep up with the audio and doesn't desync, at least on my device of course.

Version 7.1.1.3.unofficial.1 for Kodi v19+ on Matrix 19.5.0 on MacOS still had playback failed errors until I completely uninstalled and reinstalled everything from scratch.

Video
I have  subscribed to a German YouTube channel and recently they  added an AI-generated English audio track to their videos. On YouTube's web interface, the English audio track always appears as track 1, while the original German audio track is track 2. However, the add-on  ( 7.1.1.1 unofficial) only supports playing the first audio track. The second one does not appear in the list.
I'm running LibreELEC on a Fire Cube. Is there any way to prioritize the second track or fix this issue?
