Did anyone else get the notification to enter (new?) api keys today or am I the lucky one again?
Plot twist: the same credentials work fine on youtube-viewer (perl script by trizen for watching youtube on the terminal).

7.1.1.4 on python2 (leia) and I will test on python3 in a few minutes.

In case I forgot to mention, I now find no missing or problematic entries/strings in the menus on leia. I will check again tomorrow if needed.

Yes, I did try to delete whole user folder in appdata/roaming and tested with yt addon only...it just doesn't work.
v7.1.0.1 build working fine tho.

Kodi 21.1.0
Youtube addon 7.1.1.5 (but this happened with 7.0.9.2 and previous stable versions too.

I have noticed that many videos on the "Live Broadcast" section won't play the audio. When I say many, I really mean many. From the first 10 videos on that list, only 4 played the audio.
I've tried to select the audio track on videos that have multiple audio tracks. Neither track will play the audio.
Anyone else experiencing this issue? If so, any workaround?

I would like to second that. When I see the amount of work carried out both to effect the changes/improvements as seen on GitHub and then to read the near daily recommendations 
​​​​​​/suggestions on this Kodi forum the mind boggles.
For me YT inside Kodi is just perfect and I am very grateful particularly to @MoojMidge and others for their work.

I am using Kodi 18.9 Leia and tried installing unofficial 7.1.1.1 version and then later tried the official 7.1.1.1 version

Try using https://github.com/anxdpanic/plugin.vide...g/v7.1.1.6

If the issue continues then will need to see a debug log.
 

The watched/unwatched filter also doesn't work with the unofficial addon that uses the episodes conte type.

Hmm, I'll need to check that out when things settle down a bit.
 

Turning off Adaptive and alternativeplyer brought it back to to how it was. Seems those were defaults set when reseting the profile as per intructions. Please ignore.

You should not disable using InputStream.Adaptive. The alternative player setting has no effect on normal playback and it is not set by default either. Run the Setup Wizard and choose a performance preset that is appropriate to your device.

One of the main reasons that these later versions have had to be be released is because of issues with Kodi 18, which you use and are having issues with. The best way to to see releases pushed to the repository is to contribute by providing debug logs of issues that arise. Complaining about how fast this can be done, without providing information about the issues that are delaying this, is counterproductive.

A lot has changed, but it is difficult to know whether that applies to you when there is insufficient information to determine what the problem is.

Anyway try https://github.com/anxdpanic/plugin.vide...g/v7.1.1.6 - an issue was raised on Github about issues using the addon with an API key, this may impact you as well. If you still have issues then you will need to provide a debug log as requested previously.

There is an issue/regression with InputStream.Adaptive associated with handling of AAC audio in HLS streams. Run the Setup Wizard and apply the recommended default settings.

I have an Amazon Fire TV MAX gen2 device and there is no way I can enter my API keys in the YouTube add-on

1) The configuration page doesn't work http://192.168.100.7:50152/ I have the configuration options selected in the YouTube add-on

2) Remote control http://192.168.100.7:8080/ I have access to KODI but there is no option to enter keys, you can only control KODI

3) Another attempt to enter is ADBLINK and replacing api_keys.json (this option works for me on Amazon Fire TV MAX gen1, unfortunately the latest version of my device has the latest Android 11.0.0 API level 30 and there is a blockade of access to the userdata/addon_data/plugin.video.youtube directory)

My KODI is Omega 21.1 a YouTube add-on is installed from the official repository I always use it because it simply works for me

Please help me enter these keys somehow because I don't want to manually type them in from the remote[/font]

you were close with this solution, in the bottom right corner there is an option to Send Text to kodi which usually works for this sort of thing

the other solution would be to use the kodi file manager to copy api_keys.json from a network server
in the file manager, add source, "special://home", this will give you access to the kodi userdata files
then you can copy into it from a network server, smb/nfs/whatever

Hello Everyone,

I have an OSMC latest stable (Kodi 21.1) on a RPi4. The latest YT addon worked fine until the end of last week. Reinstalled it multiple times, updated to the latest (7.1.1.6), rewoked and reordered the API keys as mentioned here. Still no luck, I wasn't able to view any videos, except a few live ones.
When I click on "recorded" videos or past live videos I get this error message:
One or more items failed to play. Check the log for more information about this message.

Can't you manually edit the add-on zip file to set the default API credentials to yours? Then just install that modified zip (after transferring it to your device, somehow. Maybe a file host that you access through browser).
If you already input something in those settings then before installing you'll need to delete the YouTube add-on settings so after installing, the default values are used (at least for API credentials. The rest you can adjust to taste).

Edit: to clarify what needs to be done. You'd have to download the latest ZIP of this add-on to a PC, and unpack it somewhere. There'll be a new plugin.video.youtube/ folder in there. Then open plugin.video.youtube/resources/settings.xml using some code editor (or Notepad too, if that's all you got), then searching for "youtube.api.key" and changing the <default/> line below it to <default>(your API key in here)<default/> with just the key text inside, no quotes nor those parenthesis. Then search for "youtube.api.id" and do the same, changing the <default/> line below it to <default>(your API ID in here)<default/> with just the ID text inside, no quotes nor those parenthesis. Then save the XML file and repack everything back as it was, with the plugin.video.youtube/ folder inside the ZIP.
Inside Kodi, make sure to delete the userdata settings.xml file for this add-on: use the Settings > File Manager screen in Kodi to do that. With it, you go to Profile Directory > addon_data > plugin.video.youtube > settings.xml and long-press on it and choose the Delete option.
Then transfer that modified ZIP file to your Kodi device, install it and you're done, the default values (your API credentials) will be used.
