Kodi taking my display hostage.
#1
So i got a new tv a week ago and since then i've noticed a weird problem with kodi. I have the TV connected to my computer via hdmi and whenever i turn the TV off and my primary monitor tries to wake up from sleep all i get is a Black screen (the display is on) until i turn the TV back on, then it immediately starts working.

This doesn't happen with the old TV or with any other monitor. The new tv is the tcl qm7.

I used a fresh install of kodi to test and make sure nothing i did was causing it and created a log. Is there anything in there that could point to a solution?

New hardware is the likely culprit. Suggest closing out Kodi prior to turning the TV off.

Or using some sort of batch file to launch Kodi to your TV from your PC, then on shutdown revert to the PC display.

Some TV present different information to the computer when turned off, looks like no dev has hardware with same behavior as yours so this hasn't been addressed.
log seems to indicate that you run Kodi on the monitor, not the TV.
Turning the TV off makes the Kodi window to go black? or is it fine until the computer goes to sleep? (or is it Kodi going to sleep via its inactivity timeouts / screensavers)
Not sure how sleep fits in the problem description.

No it's only once the monitor goes to sleep (or windows itself) and i try to wake it up that it happens.

I can turn the tv off and continue to use my main monitor fine until then though.

and idk if it helps but it also displays the black screen overtop the windows login screen, not letting me see it until i turn the tv on.

I would recommend you use the windows display switch via win+p to jump back & forth... might want to set up a hot key for it. Sleep mode on a windows machine is always a crap shoot when the gfx memory is dumped into holding ram, on wake the on-screen activity is never handled well, but sometimes works..
