Skins with Thumbnail View with Title Text Underneath
#1
Hi,

I'm looking for a skin that has thumbnail/icon view of Movies with the film title and year (or filename) underneath. I've checked all the skins that come with Kodi (Omega 21) but none have it. The only one I have found separately is:

Embuary - 2x7 (14) thumbs - fills screen well. Title and date underneath across two lines.

From images on old youtube videos Rapier used to have 3x6 (18) thumbs with the title and date underneath but this thumbnail view no longer seems to be an option when I install it on Omega 21.

Does anyone know of any others?

Thanks

Thumbnails (ListItem.Art(thumb) - Kodi generated image of the video file) are probably only used as a fallback when there's no fanart/landscape image available these days.

I'm using it with poster.jpg files in each film directory so I have the thumbnails as the DVD/BD/UHD cover, which is pretty essential for someone like me who has a large collection with different releases. So hopefully someone else is still using it..

Can you post a pic of what you mean by thumbnail because I assumed you meant the screen grab that Kodi extracts when it scans video.

I believe the op means what we call posters, and brick & mortar stores call them covers of disk boxes and others see the size as thumbnails.

If that is the case the skin 'Transparency' fills this perfectly (the view is called thumbnail) although support for it is somewhat sketchy (you might have to check the forums for patches)  it's still one of my go-to skins for some of the views, (cover flow & the Wurlitzer).

But how many skins do you want (or anyone for that matter) to use?

In Embuary it's called poster view, in Transparency and Confluence it's called thumbnail view:

Embuary looks the best but it has other limitations that make it not great for me. ie. I'm not sure that I can create Sets with it - I have multiple copies of the same movie so need to organize things better. Transparency and Confluence show the names only. I find the 'year' kind of useful too so that I have some idea about the movie period/quality. Just looking for the best one for my scenario.

You can see the dates in embuary better in this pic:

Confluence is probably the next best to look at but I was hoping for more than 10 thumbs per screen.

You should check out Titan MOD.
Those should be the views you are looking for.

Yeah, Video Versions is exactly what you need if you have multiple versions of the same movies.

That does look like what I am after!

I tried installing Titan Bingie MOD - guess I got that wrong. Similar look, but there doesn't seem to be an option to get the text other than to use tags over the poster, which were not very unsightly and unreliable.

Looked for 'Titan MOD' and that seems to be the one you mention but trying to import from zip: repository.marduk-master.zip and it says it failed as the file has bad structure - but it looks fine to me. I tried to install Leia Kodi (18.9) on another computer and import the zip file and same problem. What version of Kodi are you running Titan MOD on? I guess it's a bit of a risk on Omega given the forum is archived here. Any tips on how to get it installed?

If you want to test Titan MOD, this is the current repo for it.
Titan MOD has a Matrix, Nexus and Omega version.

Thanks. Big Panel Wall looks great.

Now I wonder about Versions. If I spend years setting up Versions on one skin is the backup transferrable to another skin should that skin become defunct?

Versions will work with all compatible skins as it is a Core function, not a skin function.
Backing up all your Versions work via nfo files is not yet available. The developer has stated the coding is more complex than initially thought, so probably won't make it into v22.
