Android Broken Photos with kodi-20241229-53995306-master-arm64-v8a.apk

Hello everyone,

I usually just grab the latest master development apk and install it on my Shield. Unfortunately, this time the latest master is broken and Photos over SMB do not work, a popup window appears asking for username/password.

Movies, TV, Music all work fine over SMB connection, only Photos is broken.

Any ideas please?

Thank you.

PS:
happy new year!
NVIDIA Shield 2015 -> HDMI -> ONKYO TX-NR609 -> HDMI -> SONY Bravia (9 years old now...)

ONKYO -> lots of cables -> BOSE

Hi, please provide a debug log where you access a Movie and Photos via SMB: https://kodi.wiki/view/Log_file

What happens if you enter the requested credentials? If your share doesn't require credentials, what happens if you try to continue without entering credentials?

Possibly related change, though I would then expect it to not work for Movies etc. as well: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/26165

Can you try this previously nightly that doesn't include above change? https://mirrors.kodi.tv/nightlies/androi...64-v8a.apk

ask password is not = broken

Please provide this username/password.

Note that in Windows 10/11 (in case of SMB server is Windows based) not exists the concept of SMB access without user/password. Even if a folder is shared with "everyone" user this means --> "all users have access" but you still have to provide a user.

If you want:

user = guest
pass = 1234

but not allowed empty user/password.

This does not change the conditions for credentials to become invalid. The only change is that instead of failing silently (only in the logs) or with an uninformative error message, the credentials are now requested in a visible popup.

This means that if the credentials are now requested, the access did not work before (the server returned an error anyway).

What can happen is that if you have several image sources, only one of them may fail (maybe it is not even in use) and this will go unnoticed.

The solution is in any case to provide the missing credentials or delete that source if it is no longer used or does not exist.
