Using Ubuntu desktop with XBMC in background.

SOLVED

Firstly a thousand apologies if this has been answered loads of times before. I have searched and searched to no avail....

I am new to Linux and XBMC (fed up with windows and wanted to try something new). Not being hugely technical I was looking for a gui based upnp server to stream media to my set top box (I use TVersity on windows). A much more knowledgeable pal suggested that XBMC did everything TVersity did and more!

I finally managed to get it installed (Command lines, been a while since I used those!) and it is great I added my library and everything is great.

What I cant get though is how do I continue using Ubuntu Desktop, for surfing, working etc, whilst XBMC is running in the background as my UpNP server. I want to be able to have stuff streaming from my PC but continue surfing and that.

There seems to be no option in XBMC to do this, I can only suspend or reboot the whole pc or exit XBMC (which ends the upnp server). Help!
