Video format issues

I am sure this has been covered here before however i searched and could not find an answer to my question. I am trying to stream .mp4/aac format from xbmc on my ubuntu pc to my PS3 and xbmc wont let me load the files into my library, i browse to file location it sees the folder but when i open folder it is empty ? i am assuming there is either a setting i am missing or xbmc does not recognize that format. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Suggestions on what format my video files have to be to accomplish this ?

Hi and welcome.

You searched you say? (really?) hers what google says.

btw, show some courtesy and patience, after all this is mostly a user to user help forum, and people have lives and whatnot.

Thx for using Google.

Thank you for the response but that link has nothing to do with my issue, try reading my post again before you answer....as far as courtesy don't jump all over me because i posted a few hours ago and have not received a response. But people that have posted 30 min. ago have 8 responses. Not trying to be an $$$ something you should consider trying yourself !! I just wanted to know if anybody else has had this issue and weather it is a settings issue or a video format issue, and how to fix it.
