I have done some searching and have not really found an answer to controlling the OSK with a remote?

The keyboard arrow keys would have to function on the OSK to have it work, I tried the advancedsettings and adding a activatevirtualkeyboard (I think that was it) buit did not change anything.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Switch off "my remote thinks it's a keyboard" in Settings->System->Input.

Well I got a chance to check out that setting it was already off.

Any other suggestions I amy try?
