Videos in H.264 display only blank screen and audio - please help!

I have the latest release of XBMC installed on a fresh Windows 7 dedicated machine.

Why is it that all of my movies and TV shows which are encoded in H.264 format, display only a blank screen and audio whenever played?

How can I make my XBMC installation play these files properly?

Yes, latest stable build - Dharma 10.1.

Files play perfectly in VLC.

I will post an error log asap.

Thanks

I launch XBMC, I attempt to play a video encoded in H.264 - all I receive is audio and a black screen.

Here is my error log.

The resolution might be set too high in your HTPC. Have you try different in XBMC video output? Image

If that doesn't work, you might want to lower the resolution settings.
>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

Thanks for your speedy reply.

Lowering the resolution to any lower setting proves to make no difference.

However, in an unrelated point, I have noticed that whenever a video is playing (in any resolution) when I press the red button on my MCE remote, in order to bring the home screen menu back up, the video suddenly appears in the background. However, it is obscured by the menu.

But when I press the red button again to make the menu disappear, the video then disappears from the background too.

What is wrong with my XBMC installation?

You need to post your debug log so that we can actually view it, not download it.

The text file is too big to be posted directly into a post on this forum - it exceeds the 10,000 character limit.

However, here is a link to the Pastebin webpage where the file can be viewed:

I hope this is OK. I look forward to your advice. Thanks

The log doesn't show you attempting to play a video.

I'd guess you have the "Adjust display refresh rate ..." setting enabled and XBMC is changing the refresh rate to a value that your TV doesn't support. Go into System settings, Video, Playback and disable that setting.
