EDEN Beta crashes everytime :Unable to open audio mixer
#16
I've been running into the dreaded "ERROR: Unable to open audio mixer" for weeks now with the latest GIT master nightlies, and lately with the Eden Betas as well. This is a crash on launch, i.e. it renders the HTPC unusable.

The alsa.conf trick did the magic fix for me. This was in my AMD E350 (fusion) based HTPC.

I had to change two lines in the file:

/usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf

defaults.ctl.card 1
defaults.pcm.card 1

Both were originally in set to "0". I have no clue why everything has been working well up until now (I've been using/building Eden for a long, long time time). Both the Beta and the nightlies now work fine.

Thanks hogfan for the solution!

So... anyone know if I can get my IEC958 optical connection working in Pulse audio? The whole reason it wasn't there is because I need a digital audio connection and could never get it working with pulse.

vdrfan,

Could you also have a look at these errors:

ERROR: PulseAudio: Failed to connect Context
ERROR: PulseAudio: Failed to create Context

In the XBMCbuntu livecd Luigi and I created these lines are passed to the xbmc.log. pulseaudio isn't installed.
