How to read the bios log?
#1
Hi,

I have some performance problems with my XBMC setup so I have let the XBMC create a log.

I do however not know how to read it, I do notice that there is some errors and warnings but Im not sure what it really means?

Take a look here :

Pleas, notice that Im running openelec.

The XBMC logfile contains a lot of information, describing every line in there would probably take days.
Could you explain your problem?

I understand but there is alot of warnings and errors in the log?

The problem I got is that movies and series do lag from time to time and maby the log could say somthing about why this is?

The last movie i Played in this debug log was a big mkv file, this was played twice.

When playing it from a rar archive(as I did before) XBMC would crash after about 30 minutes intervall. This is however not shown in the log becouse I have all my videclips upacked now. But there is still lag from time to time.

WDTV Live would play the videoclips without problem over the same network so Im not so sure that its network related.

To get a decent flow I have set the "Adjust display refresh rate to match video" this does however creates syncproblem so I do also have to set the sync to -200(sound is before) to get it okay.

OpenElec is a rather specialised OS. I can see errors in your log, but having no experience of OpenElec I don't know whether they matter. You'd be better off asking in an OpenElec forum.

Does it happen on all files or just this file specifically? There are some decoder errors in the log.

Okay, I thought that the log was only from XBMC and that OpenElec was a way to distribute it in a simpler pack?

I have heard somthing about XBMC live? Will this maby be a second solution for me? And if so, when does it release?

I have tried a couple of movies and there is always a litte lag in places. So this is no network problem but a decoder problem?

This does not seem to have anything to do with the network, if it's always in the same place it could be a problem with the files.

Okay? So the log do not say why there is a problem?

This slownes is on all my videos when playing it with XBMC, no mather how big/small the file is. I Am sure that these kind of problem have never accured on the WDTV Live so there is indeed a problem with my XBMC/openelec.

The question is how I am supose to find a solution to it?

I have tried XBMC Live and it seemse like it runnes it smoother then openelec but there is other more worse problems with XBMC Live.

Any suggestions oh how to get closer to a solution on this?
