This weekend when I started Kodi however, it did some "auto updates" to several packages and then gave me a message the said.
" Artist Slide Show has unmet dependencies, Do you want to disable it"
I looked through the log but didn't see anything written in there. It still seems to work though, Any thoughts?
I also had this problem. this addon requires xbmc.addon version 14.0.0 and I was running the latest OpenELEC 5.0 RC3 which doesn't include the final Kodi code yet, so it's prior to 14.0. Guess I'll just have to wait until the OE guys update the Kodi binary. In the meantime I changed the addon.xml myself to xbmc.addon 13.0 so I can install the update on my system
My apologies for all this. I didn't realize that there was still a build that was still in RC, so I went ahead and updated the dependencies when Helix shipped. As noted, you can manually change the dependency as above in the meantime.

I'm assuming you are still running a RC version of Helix. If you have the zip file, you can unzip it, modify addon.xml so that the xvmc.addon version says 13.0.0 (instead of 14.0.0), and then rezip it. That should allow you to install it.
