[RELEASE] New XBMC Log Uploader and xbmcLogs.com site
#1
Brick
XBMC Log Uploader will allow you to upload your logs to http://xbmcLogs.com and email a link to your logs, which you can then paste in the forums.

http://xbmcLogs.com is a new pastebin type site specifically for XBMC. It has language highlighters/parsers specifically for XBMC so should aid you in highlighting problems in your logs. It currently supports xbmc debug logs, advancedsettings.xml and few others - these are all somewhat of a work in progress and will improve over time as we have more real world logs to work on.

Additionally you can upload logs to this manually if you visit the site directly at http://xbmcLogs.com - there are a few additional options such as marking the log as private/password protecting it and setting the expiry time.

This add-on is based on the original XBMC Debug add-on developed by Amet and has been significantly reworked by sphere to make it Eden compatible and add support for the xbmcLogs pastebin site. sphere has done a fantastic job at reworking the add-on and hopefully it should help a lot of users!

The add-on currently supports:

- Uploading your xbmc.log
- Uploading your xbmc.old.log
- Uploading your crash.log
- Emailing links to your logs

We have tested the add-on on OSX, Windows, Linux, Openelec, ATV and IOS and we haven't had any issues with it yet… Before adding it to the main repo we would like some user feed back. To install the add-on and help test it you can download the zip file from here - script.xbmc.debug.log-11.0.5.zip

You will be asked before every file is uploaded - if you answer no nothing will be uploaded. If you opt to have an email sent to you, you will get an email with links to all of your logs - this is optional, but highly recommended so your remember the links!!

We would also like any other feedback you might have or ideas for extending the add-on.

*** Your logs may contain sensitive information in them such and user names or passwords, keep this in mind when uploading your debug logs. This applies not only to this add-on but any time you share your debug logs with anyone!!! ***

18 Feb 2013 - xbmcLogs.com is migrating to a new server. Old data will NOT be migrated to the new server. Old debug logs will only be available from the old site. To access content on the old site visit old.xbmclogs.com or to just change your URL to old.xbmclogs.com

i.e from http://www.xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=1012 to http://old.xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=1012

Old content will be availble at the old site until April 2013.

Nice add-on. How do you prompt it to send the log?

#9
You have to set the email address in the addon settings.

Go to programs and hit ENTER. This will prompt a message asking you to send it to your e-mail

Is the "Copy to folder" option, no longer in this version? Could not see it in the video.
If so, I has a sad. One does not only crash when connected to the webs.
But great to see this come to Eden. I'll have a better look when i have time.

I'm using Eden 11.0-3 on an ATV2 with 5.0.1/5.1.1 and the plugin setup screen works fine, but nothing after that. I tested on my Mac running XBMC and see how it should work. The logs on the ATV just show:

12:41:25 T:156364800 NOTICE: -->Python Interpreter Initialized<--
12:41:25 T:156364800 NOTICE: XBMC Log Uploader: started
12:41:25 T:156364800 NOTICE: XBMC Log Uploader: settings: len(email)=0
12:41:25 T:156364800 NOTICE: XBMC Log Uploader: settings: skip_oldlog=True

Anything to try?

I will investigate the issue and report back - thanks for reporting!
