Win MKV works perfect in VLC but is crap in XBMC
#1
Hi,
I´m using XBMC 11 on a Win7 x64 machine and up until now it has played everything perfectly.

The movie is this: http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/6799592/R...S.x264-CHD
Audio works fine but the video is garbled and switches between hole gray/green frame to blocky mpeggish distortion. A couple of seconds here and there are fine but it´s impossible to view the movie like this.

And in VLC 2.0.1 it work perfectly on the same machine.

Not sure if this is a bug so I´m posting it here. Perhaps someone can see any reason to why this problem exists?

And yes ofcourse I own the BluRay movie, which I also assume that all of you do. Why else would I download it from here? Wink

Thanks!

Is your GPU driver up to date?

Try to disable everything in XBMC settings/videos/playback.....
>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

We need to see a debug log. Enable debug logging from System settings, System, Debugging, and restart XBMC then wait a minute or two for all the startup tasks to finish. Now play the problem film until you see some screen corruption.

Open the debug log by pressing Windows-R and in the Run dialog type:

"%appdata%\xbmc\xbmc.log"

(including the quotes). Click OK and the log should open in Notepad. Copy and paste the log into http://pastebin.com/ and post the link it gives you here.

Thanks for your replies!

The gfx-driver is a perhaps 5-6 months old. I´ll check if there´s a newer one and get back to you.

I´ll try all your suggestions and hopefully I can get a log for you as soon as a can!

Thanks for your help guys!

Ok,
First I updated the gfx-driver but that didn´t help.
Then I disabled the option "Allow hardware acceleration(DXVA2)" and after that the movie displayed perfectly!

Then I enabled that option and the problem was back, so it´s obvious xbmc detects something incorrectly regarding DXVA2 when I play this movie.

With that option enabled I ran xmbc in debug mode and I got this log: http://pastebin.com/X1t3iWzu
Hopefully you can see where it fails and fix this in xbmc. Or if it´s some kind of error in this specific mkv that should be corrected, then I´m more than happy to do that, if it´s possible.

Any ideas why I can´t have DXVA2 enabled for this movie?

Thanks!
