hello, im a brand new user and I'm trying to download add-ons. all i get when i try to open them is they won't work due to script or scaping library or something. the ones I've tried is fox news, myth something or other and psuedotv. nothing works, and i was needing info on how to get the games as well. on a side note, with the games can i use an xbox controller? oh ya I'm on a mac with the latest Lion.

thanx

This product is TRUELY HORRIBLE! if i just wanted a media player i would just stick to iTunes, there is noooooo clear explanations for anything, you download a so called add on and nothing works and no one can tell you what to do.

the way i see it, xbmc isn't really for using on your "Mac" or "PC" - IMO it's an awesome UI for HTPCs ie something you've dedicated to your home theater display in which you want something with a remote friendly UI that can be mouse-free, not really something to replace itunes. add-ons do normally work, I use psuedotv daily and freaking love how it's taken all my content and turned them into flippable channels. i feel like xbmc is fantastic for people who have huge libraries of content and are looking for a couch experience and not so much for people who are sitting in front of their monitor on their computer chair. remember xbmc started on the original xbox (a couch experience).

Clearly this product is not for you then. If you want to rant, go for it - but expect to get equally as unhelpful responses back. Likewise bumping a post after a couple of ours isn't going to be looked at favourably.

If on the other hand you would like to get help, then describe your problem in more detail, give examples of the errors and it will allow people to help you. If you don't give useful information don't expect many responses.

As for the add-ons you mentioned, I've just installed the fox news one and its working fine here, so more details needed.

Specifically we need to see a debug log. Enable debug logging from System settings, System, Debugging and restart XBMC, then attempt to open the Fox add-on. When it fails close XBMC and post the debug log on http://pastebin.com/ and post the link here. Don't post the log or log extracts in the forum.

See http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Log_File for how to get at the debug log.

i apologize for the outburst after my post, its just so frustrating. I have seen youtube videos and everyone except me seems to get add-ons easily, every time i try to open one it gives this message "Script Failed!:" followed by for fox news anyway "plugin.video.fox.news" thank you for your links but just as the videos they work for them not me. is there a setting that isn't turned on? I haven't messed with any of the settings, and Pseudotv says that its unable to populate channels.

thank you
oh and myth box says MySQL failed: can't connect to MySQL
