Looking at the log file I see errors like the following:
19:16:06 T:308 ERROR: XFILE::CDirectory::GetDirectory - Error getting smb://BD1/Series/spartacus blood and sand/

The error is correct, the directory has been removed.
How do I make XBMC stop looking for it next time (remove it from the database)?

Is there a way to do that automatically?

Clean the database? System settings, Video, Library, Clean library.

If it's a fix, then wait until someone comments (you can use @foo to request a particular person to comment - they get a mail), fix up anything they suggest.

If it's a feature, then in addition to the above, wait for the appropriate merge window (next one is May 1 -> 10). The person who reviews may set the milestone flag for you, else just set it yourself.

Then push it in.

If there's particular discussion wanted etc. then look on github issues and assign labels about it (eg RFC for "request for comment").
