Hello,
is there a command that will shut down/sleep the actual ATV2 box from within XBMC? Like the shutdown button to actually put it down?

No. The ATV never actually shuts down, even the sleep function in FrontRow isn't the same thing. A lot of talk about it here (ignore the stuff about bootloader if you want) http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...t=shutdown

On ios 4.4.3, i can launch the powerd command from shell to put my ATV2 to sleep.

/System/Library/CoreServices/powerd.bundle/powerd

Didn't we already figure that the powerd is wonky? I thought in the other thread there was the conclusion that it didn't do what all other thought it would?

i put electrical tape over the light on my bedroom atv2. no reason to sleep it once you do that.

memphiz: Nahh, powerd runs just fine, some guys (in the thread) just overcomplicate things.

From what I tested there seems to be no way to wake the device back up from a remote, only by unplugging and plugging back in the HDMI cable. Even taking out the power cord meant that it continued where I left off after doing the HDMI trick.

I think people who want that sleep thingy working are overcomplicating things a bit too. At least for atv2 and for what that stupid sleep really does. But whatever. What deanmv said was what i was talking about.

Memphiz: Yeah, i didnt think this would be such a hassle since it seems to be working for me quite well.
I tested this on a couple (4) of ATV2's now and all are working 4.4.3 and 4.4.4, different TV's and all, so im a bit confused.

deanmv : Did you try waiting 45 seconds after running the powerd command ?
After 45s press central (silver) button (hold for a sec or two you will see the light blinking very fast) to turn apple tv2 back on.
(powerd is running as a daemon on 4.4.3 and 4.4.4, so that could be the cause why its not waking for you.)

Nope I didn't try that I don't think, didn't really time how long it was off for. It is interesting as it even remembers what you were doing after power cord pull but it is so low power it doesn't bother me anyway.

Yeah, the device uses a total of 6W of power. 6W guys... More power has probably been expended due to the postings in this thread, than months of leaving the ATV2 on.

I guess I don't get it...
