Linux Only Audio, no Video
#1
Hi,

I am using xbmc on Ubuntu 12.04 with fglrx. While using The Trailers xbmc only gives me Audio, but no Video. Same thing happens with HD-Movies sometimes though this is solveable via a simple reboot.
Here is my xbmc.log of a run where I started xbmc, tried to play a trailer and then exited xbmc: xbmc.log

I am posting this in the general section of the forum because the same issue happens with movies.

Is there anything I can do? This really annoys me...

Thanks in advance,
Kiesel

This is a very outdated version of xvba. Can you retry with wsnipex xbmc-xvba-eden ppa?
Also upgrading fglrx to 12.6 could help.
Make sure that your graphics card has at least 512MB memory.

More info is here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=116996
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Thanks for the reply!

I am using that ppa, though I have to admit that I set to system to manually update so it didnt update in about a month. Just updated it but nothing changed. I am using fglrx 12.8 and a AMD Radeon HD 6530D (AMD A6-3500 APU) (not sure about how much RAM it has. System Memory is 4gig.

The new log is here: http://pastebin.com/SVWZdT41

/edit: I have been doing some digging and I found a workaround for the trailers: Just disable xvba in system settings. It plays the trailers flawlessly then. Hope that gives somebody a hint what might be the problem, because I would like to not always disable xvba when watching trailers.
