Hey guys...

Be weary about these drives. I have 1 and it makes a horrible loud "chirping" sound on a regular basis. Just google..."3tb seagate chirping" and you will see what I'm talking about.

Seagate came out with a firmware update that somewhat silences it, but doesn't fix the problem. Other than that they have been pretty silent about it. I sent mine back and they sent me a refurbished one with the same problem Sad

It works fine...so far, but it is nerve-racking...

Hey Richie , I read that as well. I still bought 1 back in April(for 170) and have not heard the chirping at all. So for 99.99 I am willing to take the chance. But ya lots of people have had the chirping.

I don't like the 1 year warranty... but the price is nice.

Here's the new benchmark for 4TB http://www.engadget.com/2012/11/20/weste...#continued 5 yr warranty.
