I must be missing something. If STV becomes a problem I will look into unblocking ads elsewhere. I've not found one that works yet for ITV Hub but I will check out ublock. 👍(2021-08-31, 19:36)chrissxuk Wrote: Ok, smartdns I am talking about the Samsung app on my TV so not sure how you would do that. When I've previously tried ad blockers on the ITV Hub via a browser they've always detected it and said the service won't with ad blockers. I tried a few but then just gave up after I managed to get the dev for Catch-up TV and More to fix a few bugs on their STV offering.I know it's the app on your tv.
Smartdns is an edit of your network settings on your tv. set dns to static, block ipv6 and enter the providers two ip addresses, reboot and your laughing.
As for adblocking on the itv hub, via a web browser, ublock works fine.
And STV will work only for as long as the streams remain unencrypted, but since widevine and similar is becoming standard, it may take a bit more that some slight edits to fix. pulling the mpd manifest and obtaining the encryption key may, or may not be allowed on certain platforms depending on what is allowed. Even libreelec have had a bit of a mare sorting out widevine binaries for their latest release https://libreelec.tv/2021/07/18/le-9-2-f...-widevine/
Smartdns can, and has been used for most people to bypass geolocation, and is something that is not allowed to be discussed on this site. But, there are other uses for smartdns, such as blocking ads and trackers. But, if you are using Smartdns for allowing you to access a site, then the dns adblocking option is not on the cards, unless your smartdns provider offers an adblock option too. (could be money in setting something like that up, better get Phyllis typing up a prospectus.)
