Yesterday I learned that even when XBMC on Apple TV 2 doesn't support DTS or DD 5.1 (Please correct me if I'm wrong), it can send the original audio signal directly to the receiver so that the receiver decodes the DTS/DD codec. That way I could listen to surround effects using the Apple TV.
Now my question is, given the ATV2 doesn't support 1080 playback, can't it send the video data directly to the receiver, which does support 1080 and that way being able to play and watch 1080 movies on the ATV2?
