Sync to screen information - missed frames
#1
I have had this issue and am trying to figure out what the problem is...or if there is one.

When I watch a DVD TV show series the missed frames in in the 'Sync to screen info' climbs at an alarming pace.

The dropped frames for the video codec information line is 0.

From the Wiki there isn't really that much information on the sync to screen information.

Quote:Sync to screen information Breakdown
refresh Actual refresh-rate being displayed
missed Number of missed frames ?
speed Audio speed correction to sync ?
sync Video speed to enable sync ?
avg Avg amount of correction ?
error Percentage of errors syncing ?

I don't have the problem with DVD movies or any blu-rays.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for the reply.

I don't know what the file refresh rate is, because tv shows on DVD really confuse me. I think they are displayed at 30fps. Huh

The odd thing is it is working today. I had this problem a while ago and it seemed to correct itself when I upgraded to Frodo. Than I noticed choppy play, and starting to look into it again.

Here is a snap I just.

I have sync to display set to on.

It seems that when the 'Windowing information FPS" can't seem to lock the file at 30fps but rather jumps around at 23-27fps the 'Synch to screen info' missed frames adds up for the obvious reason. When the Windows FPS is where it should be(30fps, 24fps etc... ) I have no issues.

I have an i3 and an AMD 5450 graphics card.

Still need to see your video configuration in XBMC settings.

Is this what you mean? I guess I am not sure of what exactly you are asking for.

You have post-processing turned on, could you try without that?

I think it has to do with the video itself in this case, but it is worth a try.

Thanks.

I will try that, but it is not taxing my video card as the gpu is only at 50%.

It seems that if I alt-tab to the desktop and then back to XBMC it will get to the correct FPS in the W[FPS:xxxx] section in a minute or two. odd
