Win Nvidie geforce GT 640 Issue
#1
This isn't really an issue with XBMC at all but I figured I'd post it here to see if others have encountered this and how they fixed it (if they did). For whatever reason, the HDMI port of this card likes to disappear from time to time (I haven't found a pattern yet) so that my computer thinks that I have no audio source. This of course leads to slow videos and no sound in XBMC. A simple reboot fixed it every single time but that's annoying.

If I go into the Sound settings within Windows it simply says that nothing is plugged in to the HDMI port.

Has anyone else come across this and if so have you found a fix?

Edid issue maybe? There's loads of info in the avsforums about this.

Ok thanks for pointing me in a direction. I'll see what I can dig up.

Ok. I think you're right. This seems to be an EDID issue. I'm taking the easy but more expensive way out as I don't have the time right now to solve this by messing with registry edits. I just ordered the Gefen HDMI Detective Plus. It seems that this solves the problem for everyone. I'll report back with my results once I've had it running for a few days.
