I have installed XBMCbuntu on a new HTPC. Motherboard is ASRock H77M, CPU is Intel 3rd gen Core i3, HD is Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM, and optical drive is Samsung SH-224BB DVD/CD Writer. The problem is that sometimes when I insert a music CD into the optical drive it does not show up under music->files. I also have XBMC set to rip CDs to the hard drive when a music CD is inserted. This also does not happen. Note that this is an intermittent problem, sometimes it happens, sometimes it doe not.

Before installing XBMCbuntu, I had Openelec installed and the system did not have this issue. Any ideas as to what is going on?

Start by looking in your debug log (wiki) when your inserted CD isn't recognized and compare it to the times when it is recognized.
