Improper TV episode indexing
#1
XBMC is improperly indexing one TV show I have. Below is the contents of the folder on my hard drive. Each episode shows the title and info of the next episode. Except the first one ("Arrival"), which is correct. So for example E02 shows metadata for E03, and so on. I think this is due to the confusing way the files are labeled... "Arrival" should be the pilot, and "Chimes of Big Ben" should be E01. I have 2 questions: How exactly does XBMC parse filenames to get the metadata? And how can I fix this particular show without renaming any files on the disk?

Code:
The.Prisoner.1967.S01E01.Arrival.720p.BluRay.x264-CiNEFiLE.mkv
The.Prisoner.1967.S01E01.The.Chimes.Of.Big.Ben.720p.BluRay.x264-CiNEFiLE.mkv

If I had to guess, I would think the year in the episode file name would be causing issues.

I can also see it being partially confused with this:

The.Prisoner.1967.S01E01.The.Chimes.Of.Big.Ben.720p.BluRay.x264-CiNEFiLE.mkv

That's my guess at least.

That depends on whom you ask. IMDB calls "Arrival" episode 0 (as in a pilot). http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061287/epis...t_eps_sn_1
I'm new at this, but I think I trust IMDB more, because while both sites are crowdsourced, IMDB at least has staff approve every edit.

So while multiple opinions exist on how the episodes should be numbered, my questions remain: How can I make XBMC label them the way I want instead of the way TVDB wants?

In the end, it depends on what the scraper site thinks it should be.

Use a different scraper - universal can use imdb I think, or maybe that is only for movies.

Believe me, it's easier to rename to match thetvdb!

XBMC gets the TVshow name from the name of the folder, and uses the filename of the video file to determine the season and episode number.
These are then used as a base to scrape other information such as plot, title etc.

IMDB is known for numbering TV shows wrong, but that aside: if you personally like IMDB more, why are you using a scraper that uses TheTVDB.com ?

By not using this scraper for this content; If you want to use the theTVDB.com scraper. you will need to the numbering present at theTVDB.
The only way to overrule this is to create custom NFO files (wiki) for every episode, or use a different scraper for this tvshow only.

Ok thanks. I'll look into other scrapers for this show.
If I wanted to make NFO files, can the scraper use those just to read the episode numbers? Or must I type all the metadata (plot, etc.) in each file by hand?
