[OLD/CLOSED] PseudoTV Live - Set-Top box solution
post was deleted...was i not supposed to say that?
(2015-08-06, 17:01)jctennis Wrote: Hey guys, does anyone know why I can't change my background updating setting to off? I have small kids and some of my channels aren't appropriate for my kids ('sega' movie channels for example) but because PTV hasn't finished parsing them I can't turn it right away to Nickelodeon or something. I don't mind waiting a minute for everything to load so "use last channel" works as expected. I can change the setting is PTV Live but when I launch it, the setting seems to revert itself.

My setup is as follows:

Kodibuntu 64bit Isengard
3GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
6GB RAM
Radeon HD 4350 PCI-e Graphics Card
Live TV provided by HDHomerun Prime

As you can see my setup is plenty powerful enough for this so I'm not thinking I am tripping any compatibility things like I would be if I were on a Raspberry Pi or something. I can grab a log if needed, but I don't think it is a bug so much as something I am ignorant of.

check to see if Cable boxtop mode is checked, its connected to the background loading... thats all i got Wink

I just quit PTVL correctly and it happened again. It was after I forced a channel reset from the settings. Could that have anything to do with it?
Thanks

Let me better explain... when you exit PTVL Kodi physically looks like PTVL is finished so that you can use Kodi. While actually running in the background to finish threads (process) you started. Most of the time this isn't noticeable. Give it a few seconds if not a few minutes depending on each users setup.

Thats all the input I will give on "exiting" Smile

Just an update to say that I have tested this a few times and it does appear forcing a channel reset from the configuration sets Repeat to All even if you exit properly and give it time to finish shutting down threads. You have to manually set Repeat to Off after a forced channel reset.

Thanks

Wait for v.0.6.6 to see if that fixes your performance issues... or provide a log for me to review... simply telling me something is slow, can't possible resolve the issue.

When the system freezes, I have no log information to share. Like you I've been an XBMC and PLEX user for years, plus I'm a 20+ year unix admin and OS level programmer, so it's not as if I didn't do some basic checks. I gave all the information I had. From my perspective; it's the only program I have that hangs (repeatably - all I have to do is click a show in the guide or try to exit the program, plus it sends the temp and fan up). The system is dedicated to Kodi, but it is an older32bit Intel Mac using Snow Leopard (the last good OS for that hardware). I did provide feedback to reduce its resource footprint for older systems. I will try the upcoming release and see how it varies.
Oh...my...God.

MUSIC CHANNELS??!!! Seriously?? I just upgraded to the latest build and I was able to autotune music channels...I can't believe we finally have real music channels! That's awesome. Literally the only reason I ever exited PTVL was to listen to music and now I wont have to exit all anymore.

Thanks for the great work, Lunatixz.
I am not able to create channels with smart playlists that are using tags. When it is building the channels I can see it is adding videos, but then I get "Unable to populate channels. Please verify that you have scraped media in your library and that you have properly configured channels." I have two channels set with smart playlists using tags, and the playlists work but for some reason with Pseudotv Live they do not work. Here is my log file: http://xbmclogs.com/po2sin6ux
Havent used ptvl in awhile see alot has change. My autotuning doesnt seem to work its not creating any channels and i have media in my library..I tried enable autotuning and selecting it myself but still enable to create any. If anyone can help would appreciate it. Im using 6.5c like I havent been on awhile so unfamilar with all the changes so i could have missed something..Thanks
Can anyone answer my question about how to access video options during playback and why the aspect ratio key toggles sleep mode instead of the aspect ratio? I'm sorry if this is explained somewhere obvious but I have searched and can't seem to find this information.

Can't answer the sleep mode thing (I assume button remaping) but for the way to get options you should hit the information button (i) and when the usual stuff about the episode/show comes up, use the directional buttons (up, down, right left) to move to the left. This should display a side bar on the vertical left side of your screen. There should be a button for player controls, which should bring up the standard playback control for your Kodi system theme and you can make your way to the settings you need.
I've been trying to figure out how to work with this addon, everything mostrly works but I can't get USTVNOW and YouTube to work with the addon, the community part of the autotune is grayed out and even though I click on "USTVNOW" when it autotunes no ustvnow channels are created.

Can I get some help please?

Edit: Also I cant get it to work with playon. Any help would be appreciated

Edit 2: Also, movies never seem to start from the "middle" they always start at the beggining
I have all of my 70 channels (local media only) running in Pseudo TV Lite... From what I understand I can no longer install this on a new Kodi Box. What is the process for me moving all my channels into Pseudo TV Live?

I've tried just copying the Settings2.xml file but it does not load all of the channels. Is there a step I am missing?

Thanks

settings2.xml between lite and live are virtually the same. The only difference that stands out is chtype 7, directory channels... There is no reason you can't use your old settings2 in live.

Thanks, thats what I thought, it loads channels 1 - 20 fine but then 30 - 60 it does not load at all. However, when I open channel configuration they all show up, I do not have any directory channels. Is there something else I should try and do to get this work?
