Why not Full Screen?? Noob Question
#1
Hi all

Sorry for the probably simple question - hopefully someone can explain briefly

Just trying to understand why some vids do not play full screen for example

Downloaded a video 1280x720 and that plays fullscreen on my fullhd TV

Downloaded another video say 1920x800 and that has black bars at the top and bottom

Anybody know why this is - TV cant play 1920x800 in fullscreen I guess just not sure why?

I think I have match resolution to display ticked

Thanks for any pointers

Try cycling through the various aspect ratios by pressing "z" on your keyboard.

Because it is a widescreen movie designed to be watched at a ratio of 2.35:1 - if you stretch that to full height then the picture will be distorted - people will be skinny/tall.
If I have helped you or increased your knowledge, click the 'thumbs up' button to give thanks :) (People with less than 20 posts won't see the "thumbs up" button.)

As long as you don't have black bars on all four sides of the picture, you have nothing to worry about. For anything that's NOT in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio, black bars are GOOD because they mean you're seeing the full picture without stretching or cropping it.
