The cloudflare issues are difficult to investigate and test as it works sometimes, then fails, so searches may work, but the next connect to download fails. Waiting a bit and trying again may work in those instances.
If, however, the download works (and the file is in the temp directory) but it fails to get moved into the proper folder, then this is not related to subscene but a different issue. please post a full debug log so I can look into this further.
It might work if I add retries to the subscene addon, so it'll wait a few seconds and try again to search or download.
a4kSubtitles added a third party module to help with the subscene cloudflare issues. That module is python3 only though, which means it will only work for Kodi 19 and after. Might be time to break backwards compatibility and adjust this addon to be Python3 only.
