Built-in infrared worked without any changes by me. I tested it with my media center remote last night and it worked great. It even goes back to the main XBMC screen when you hit the Windows button.

Jason

Wierd, I have a MCE remote and it doesn't work at all. I even got my ARRX18G programmable remote that is programmed to the MCE remote and that doesn't work as well. I have checked and my setting is checked to enable the IR receiver in the Bios.

Jason are you using the same nightly build r17148 or another build? you do have the DN2820FYK correct? Oh what model remote are you using? I have the VRC-1100

Does anyone know how to tell if the IR receiver is enabled (via ssh)?

Found out it's my remotes that are not compatible with the NUC. I tried the IR Blaster on my LG G2 and it works to control the NUC. Now to find a compatible remote. I'm going to ping Intel support for a list of tested compatible remotes

You can also ping JasonHoffmann, he is an Intel Employee Wink

I am also very interested in the 23.976 issue - anyone here who could test for it? Please!

Thanks for the info.

That seems a bit high to me, compared with the <10w power consumption of the Haswell i5 NUC.

http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1373-page4.html

The Haswell i5 is a 15w TDP CPU, while the N2820 is a 7.5w TDP.

Just did another check and it fluctuates between 9.7 and 10.0. This is with the wireless card installed. Maybe i could shave off .5 - 1 more watt if i take that out?

Sure.

I just got mine up and running on Windows 8 today, but I can't get the audio to come out via HDMI. It only lists the headphone port as the audio out, but not the HDMI port. I installed all the drivers from the driver bundle and I see the Intel Display Audio in the control panel. Is there something special I'm supposed to be doing to get sound via HDMI?

The VRC -1100 is not a proper MCE compatible remote as under Windows it would not use the Microsoft ehome driver, see Remote_control_reviews (wiki)

Did anyone get an answer on this? This is still the only reason I'm not buying Angel

I ordered one this past Monday. I should have had it Tuesday but then Atlanta weather got in the way. Hoping to get it today. How can I reliably test the 23.976 handling. This will let me know if it might be possible to go with more of these or if I have to look at the i3 version. I've seen the post saying "have a display supporting 24hz post the output of xbmc-xrandr" but it also states "should be sufficient" which does not make me confident in it being a reliable test.

Someone actually did this over in the OpenElec forums

http://openelec.tv/forum/64-installation...t=30#96722

The relevant lines being

"<mode id="0x47" name="1920x1080" w="1920" h="1080" hz="60.00000" current="false" preferred="true"/>

So given that this is an accurate measure of the refresh rate, then this looks perfectly good. To be completely definitive, someone should probably remind what this looks like on older Ivy Bridge hardware.

I also saw that post and his unit had a modeline for 1920x1080 23.97608. I double checked and my Celeron 847 does not have this line.

EDIT: To clarify: Celeron 847 is based on Sandy Bridge, not Ivy Bridge.

What about Yadif DI on the Bay Trail NUC? Is it powerful enough for 1080i DI?

The one thing I can not live with is a laggy UI experience so this is key for me when deciding between this celeron and the i3.

TIA

I'm not happy with the speed at all, my acer revo 3700 is snappier. Upped the video ram to 512mb in the bios, seemingly did nothing. Noticed there was some refresh rate/playback issue on 1080p videos also, not 100% smooth.

Maybe it's a nightly build thing, but I don't think this box has enough guts.

Will wait for the i3 revision!
Are you booted from USB, SSD, or HDD?
