The PVR Widgets are not showing anymore since I updated my Kodi version and subsequently, Aeon Nox Silvo Mod to the latest version. Is this a bug, and is there a way to get around it?

This happens on both Windows 10 and the latest Libreelec version of Kodi, on the Raspberry Pi 3.

I saw this weird thing during the beta testing, and I don't understand the reasoning behind it, but it's on the default skin too, so not an issue with Mike's skin. I added a sub-menu under "System" too via Mike's skins, super easy and still fancy.

If you open the "Settings.xml" file in the "16x9" folder and add the highlighted code snippet into it like I did in this picture, that will add ADDONS back onto the Main Settings Page.



The position you paste the highlighted code in that series of items will determine where it shows up in the Settings list. I have it so "Addons" shows up first, then "interface" shows up below it, second.

Thank you, Technometry! This is exactly what I was looking for. I was able to get it done in under five minutes. Very easy. As a token of my gratitude I share the following instructions with other novices like myself wanting to perform this task while running Kodi on Nvidia Shield TV.

1. Open Nvidia Shield
2. Launch ES File Explorer
3. Select Network> Remote Manager… then select “Turn On” command button then take note of the ftp address shown in right pane

Now for me, I use a Macbook and TextWrangler (free download) as my text editor. Notepad++ is equally sufficient for accomplishing this task.

4. On Macbook, open FileZilla (a free FTP transfer utility program)
a. Plug in the ftp address as described in #3 above
b. Navigate to and open Settings.xml found in the 16x9 folder under the ADDONS parent directory
c. Right-click to edit file Settings.xml as suggested by Technometry (see image)
d. Save file
5. Restart Kodi

If you have done this correctly you will see a new section called Addons after clicking System on Main Menu

Okay, something weird just happened.

I just merged my forked copy of your skin, and the branch name changed to Krypton|MERGING. I then opened Kodi, but the Estuary skin became active. I tried to change the skin, but I'm not seeing your skin as an option.

I deleted the copy on my system and GitHub, forked your script and cloned it again. Still not able to find your skin as an option @mikeSiLVO.

Anyone else experiencing this?

You do not need to fork the skin in GitHub unless you want to contribute code/Pull requests. Don't merge if you have not altered the skin just Pull changes and Rebase without forking.

I know nothing about skinning, but couldn't you just adjust the image size attribute in the XML, or are you avoiding that as it would alter the field for all the rating images?
I could possibly alter the PNG files for the ratings, but is it just the FSK ones or all ratings?

Adding a separate control just for FSK ratings is not the way to go. The images you speak of need to have padding around them to match the other ratings in the skin (Like the US MPAA ones). I thought this was done already though... Are you using Krypton or newer?

Any better Mike? Made it larger to fit the space and re-centered everything. Also lowered the gap between Aeon and Nox.

Looks good to me, now I just have to add it in the skin...

As you know, prior to Krytpon the Addons menu was accessible via the System menu—but now it is gone. As a workaround, I now access the Addons menu via Videos main menu. Has this now become the popular method or is there a shortcut or context menu I can take advantage of?

New menu item called APPS which if you do not see can be added if you use the restore menu items function and/or it is a default submenu item for the settings menu.


Mike thank you for your suggestion but...
- I was not able to find the APPS menu item.
- I could not locate the "restore menu items function" in the default submenu item for the settings menu.
- I tried the above in all available skins including confluence

I'm tempted to just revert back to 16.1

You misread or I mistyped...

System has a submenu item for add-ons not restore menu. Restore is either in Context menu of Menu Customizer or if using Git version for Krypton and later, the last entry of the right side options panel.

I have a question that may have been asked before but there is way too much to search through this forum on a wild goose chase, so if it has been answered before and it is too much trouble to answer again, feel free to say so and I will delve into the 428 pages of posts to find it. I already tried searching but it didn't help much.

So I have been tearing through the code looking for a way to change the default Skin Settings to no avail. More specifically, I want to make it to where the skin defaults to "ICONS" and the "LOW" horizontal main menu position instead of "5 items" and "center". I found where to get the skin settings option to say "icons' and "low" by default, but it doesn't actually change the setting on the home menu. So I figured I would ask the master.

Any direction you could give me would be greatly appreciated, even if it is just you telling me the .XML file to look in (which would be a massive help alone). Please don't go too far out of your way to answer, as I know you must be a busy guy, and I actually enjoy going through the code to learn how it works, but I seem to be stumped on this one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why change the default? Once you set the setting it will not revert and if you need to re-install just backup and use the settings.xml file in the addon_data /skin.aeon.nox.silvo folder in userdata (wiki).

I been seeing an issue like these too...tri-panel view of cover art seems to not be adjusting properly. Sometimes the tops are cut off or sometimes the sides. If you put kodi in windowed mode (using the \ key) then click and drag the edge of the window, either top, bottom or side, you can get it to show properly....strange I've not noticed it before. Might be a Krypton bug..

Those are, I think, handled by the skin.helper script. The beta version has not been pushed to repo yet so if you are using the newest it might not work.

If you post a Debug Log (wiki) I can take a look and see if that is the issue.

That looks like either a wrong aspect ratio for your monitor or wrong aspect ratio for the poster but I am going to guess monitor... If poster try finding a 1000x1500... If aspect ratio use a 16x9 TV

Post a debug log (wiki) but be aware that I do not support modded versions of the skin. Please read the GitHub README posted in the FAQ and first post when using GitHub versions to make sure you have the correct branch installed as well as only a single SiLVO skin folder.

Hi Mike, I guess you are right about the skin.helper script. I compared the version I have on Windows and on my Pi and they are the same. I've reinstalled Kodi 16.1 on my RasPi because I use my PC as a testing machine. Guess I'll have to wait until the script is updated.

On another subject, the skin isn't using default_bg.jpg as a background. All we get now is just a black screen behind the menus. Are you planning to reintegrate that on the skin or will it stay like this? I am asking this because I like it better than a plain black screen behind everything. I usually swapped that picture with this one:

Well it does like that on every device I have including the TVs...The poster art is what ever kodi scrapes or I change the ones I don't like... so I have no idea what size they are. Big thing was that I didn't want it to be skin related because I hate seeing perfect stuff with imperfections (yeah, kissing butt)

Where can i find the settings file for the widgets i have set? i have make my own build. I have set my personal login data for a addon. When a friend install my build, then it's load my login data. I have try do delete some lines in script- scinshortcuts- includes.xml. But it reloads the old it back. Any chance to delete the login data from a Addon that's is set on a widget without to delete the complete widget? I have set the new login data inside the Addon. But The widgets loads the old login data.

Because I am making my own fork of your skin and when I install it, I want it to default to certain settings without having to copy the settings.xml. No big deal if you don't have time to get into it, I completely understand. I have just been tearing out all the conditionals in the Home.xml and Includes_Home.xml files that cause the skin to check the setting so that it just flat out defaults to what I want without a setting. However, I would prefer to just know where to go to change where the skin defaults to as the method I have undertaken rips out a whole lot of your customization features that you worked so hard on. Thanks in advance, whether you have any insight for me to go on or not. Regardless, thanks for all your hard work.

I've customized aeon nox silvo using a Android Box (T95Z) and I'm either moving to Nvidia Shield or Chromebox - haven't decided, but was wonder if I could save my customization to install on my next device ?

Is it a different process for either one?
