I have run across something though, and I'm not sure if it's just supposed to be that way by design, or if it's something to do with my configuration.
I've found that, on the "Titles Screen", whether it be Movies or TV Shows, the fan art is not rotating... as in each movie only shows a single image. I'm using the Showcase view (but I've confirmed the same inaction on others), and, under the Background option, have both Fanart & Extra-fanart enabled. I've toggled them on / off, but no change.
Now, this may be "as intended", but, since the Extra-fanart option is available, it makes me think that the fanart should cycle, as it does with other skins.
My media is all stored on a central NAS, and the Extra-fanart is stored under each movie folder, in a folder named extrafanart.
Any thoughts?.
@RobbieWilkes You say it is in folders but Kodi doesn't know about those folders so you need to either utilize the latest artwork features available to Kodi or setup and run Artwork Beef which has options to add the fanart from your extrafanart folders to the Kodi Artwork DB..
Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. I have taken your advice, and reviewed, and tried to implement the changes to my existing AdvancedSettings.xml file, but have not had any luck. To that end, this is the videolibrary portion from the file:
<videolibrary>
<recentlyaddeditems>400</recentlyaddeditems>
<movieextraart>
<arttype>banner</arttype>
<arttype>clearart</arttype>
<arttype>clearlogo</arttype>
<arttype>discart</arttype>
<!-- Add as many farnart as required. -->
<arttype>fanart1</arttype>
<arttype>fanart2</arttype>
<arttype>fanart3</arttype>
<arttype>fanart4</arttype>
<arttype>keyart</arttype>
<arttype>landscape</arttype>
</movieextraart>
</videolibrary>
In looking at the examples, and working with one specific movie, I tried to pull the image files from the extrafanart sub-folder, and drop them in the movie folder, alongside the video file, poster, etc., and rename them as movietitle-fanart#.ext [Zombieland (2009)-fanart1.jpg], as per the example on the link... but still no luck. I also tried to modify the xml to point into the extrafanart sub-folder [<arttype>extrafanart/fanart1</arttype> ] but that didn't get me anywhere either.
In searching further, I found this string:
Extra fanart not cycling (307)
In which nprince describes his process, which is, essentially the same as mine, and you indicated that he needed script.toolbox installed, and then to called "Download extrafanart". So, I launched the script.toolbox and ran "Add extrafanart to movie library", which seemed to do something... but nothing changed.
In reading through the rest of that thread, it seemed to indicate the need for Artwork Beef, which I don't have, and was trying to avoid installing, so that I wouldn't have to cache the images locally... which I assumed is what the changes to the AdvancedSettings.xml file was supposed to provide, but I may be misunderstanding.
As I mentioned, I originally started developing my build in a different skin (Aeon MQ 7 - Leia Mod) but then switched to SiLVO. To make sure I remembered correctly, I loaded it tonight, and checked, and it does rotate the fanart... but I'm not how or why.
Am I somehow missing something simple? You said "Kodi doesn't know about those folders", but I didn't really see how to tell Kodi exactly where to look.
Anyway, nothing major... I just like to figure things out, so I understand what's going on, and I often find myself digging into things that aren't really that important, and just bug me. LOL!
Thanks again!
