Frodo stops working
#1
Hi, since last night, Frodo stopped working, xbmc-standalone crashes and I see no evidence anywhere. Using xbmcbuntu, the boot procedure takes me to the Xorg login screen and that's it. No manual logins possible, that always takes me back to the login screen. When I try to start it manually from a shell, I get this:
Code:
xbmc@xbmc:~$ xbmc-standalone -display 0:0
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gtk-2.0/gtk/__init__.py:57: GtkWarning: could not open display
  warnings.warn(str(e), _gtk.Warning)
Error: unable to open display
...
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
XBMC has exited uncleanly 3 times in the last 2 seconds.
Something is probably wrong

At startup I've always noticed a news ticker on the bottom line ... could the release of Kodi be related to that? I'm asking because the two events came quite along.

Disclaimer ... and yes, I know using Frodo ... bla bla it has been working all months ... doesn't one saying say "never change a running system?" ;-)

Any suggestions? Huh
TIA, regards

No xserver is running. Nothing to do with xbmc at all.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Thumbs Up
Got it working, a
Code:
chown xbmc:xbmc -R /home/xbmc
was necessary because some files were owned by root.
