Hello and thanks for all the work you done for the comunity !

I face a problem since using Kodi instaed of xbmc.

i have different HD's,
while trying to add them into one category ( film for example )
Videos->Files->Add Video...->Video Sources
Brouse -> add 1 HD
Add
Brouse -> add 2 HD
etc..
etc..

At the End
i confirm Content is FILM
i use the localy strored nfo files
recursiv scan is enabeled
i agree to update all the files in this paths

i see the shrink is running of the db
but no files are added within the database

if i add only ONE HD and produce a lot those configurations
( each HD have One Config ) ,
then it works.

same happen to series also.

sry for my english.
hope it is good enough to explain what happen
and someone is able to help.

brgds

I have seen this issue when adding more than one location to a source in Kodi.

Try running 'Update library' from your video sources context menu after you finish adding the source.

Correction:

Fresh Install of kodi
Add 2 HD to one Category Film.
no scanning as expected
go into settings->video-> change ( as per your comment ) "update library on start

now it works

thanks jkirk

will keep you informed what happen if i add all the other HD's into this group

Try turning off recursive scanning (unless you have your movie folders split into genres, etc) and then go back and make sure your content is set to Movies. Once you confirm this immediately update the library or scan for new content. I have seen where adding the source forgets the content setting as well. I have been trying to reproduce this but cannot seem to find a systematic issue. I use local NFO files too and they can be a PITA.

Hi jKirk,

Try turning off recursive scanning <DONE>
content is set to Movies <DONE>
scan for new content >DONE>

but no effect to all of this.

Set "refresh library on start" is working after setting.

thanks for help

Try setting up individual sources for each location. See the wiki, which has not been updated for Helix:

Page: http://kodi.wiki/view/Adding_video_sources
Scroll down to "2 Making one source for multiple locations " section.
See the note: "Future Helix feature: This feature might be dropped in the future version, v14 Helix "

Your movies or TV shows will still all be grouped together in the Library.

Dear Developers:

Why this ?
All of us who are collecting Movies etc will came one day to the situation that a HD is full.
it is not a very clear situation.
Yes, i can create a lot of seperated configs.
But this here is definitly a loosing of comfort.
ok, maybe you found a solution for this.

but anyway:

XBMC/KODI is a fantastic tool.
never seen something like this for free !!!!

best regards

^I agree, there's a breakdown in user education here.

1. If it's no longer supported, or encouraged, to group together multiple locations in one source -- then the "Add" button should not be there!

2. If this is the case, it should have been announced somewhere when Kodi/Helix went to the Final Release.

1. Does it anywhere actually say it is removed? No it doesn't so don't assume.
2.no one reads

Hello Martin,
yes, you are right also.
not removed, but not working.
here i agree to pagali,
remove the add button or make it working Wink

if i follow your arguments,
that if the add-btn still existst,
it has to work and in result
it is a bug ?

p.s. give "watchdog" a chance.
seems to be a good addon for this matter

It's not that it doesn't work - it just doesn't work like it used to in Gotham.

You can still add multiple sources to a single source - it just doesn't automatically update that source when you've finished the wizard. Once you go back and scan for new content it updates and works just fine.

1. I'm not assuming, I ran into the same problem when testing Kodi. No matter how many times I re-scanned the sources, the added locations would not scan. When the Wiki is updated so there is no question, then nobody will have to assume anything. (Assuming it works, of course. Big Grin )

2. I do. So your assumption is incorrect. Tongue

I've run into references to this problem on the forum*, that's how I knew the workaround. I don't mean to sound snarky, but just replying to you in kind. I have total respect and admiration for the developers of XBMC/Kodi, and I know the problem will be fixed eventually, and/or the Wiki will be updated. In the meanwhile, the only way I can use Kodi is to create multiple sources, one for each location.

I'm having the same problem, I think. I cannot add multiple paths to a single video source any longer under Kodi, or else it won't scan them. I can create a new source, e.g. "Movies" and add a mapped drive to one of my external drives, say, "O:\MOVIES", and it will scan fine, but if I add a second path, "P:\MOVIES", to that source, then it no longer will scan for new content.

In Gotham, I had one folder "Movies" with four mapped drives. Under Kodi, I had to break it up into four sources, each with one mapped drive, for them to be recognized and scan properly.
