hymm from a couple posts down off koyings link it there is mentioned the possibility they will be updating there OS for the needed api.

"Jared has said, "OUYA plans on updating the OS", so hopefully that will not be an issue."

on a plus side the ouya is still running great on koying's latest spmc. Never had an issue with this box I have been very satisfied with spmc/kodi. Great work.

hi ned any news on this?
i think i can follow instructions and i've already rooted and stuff my android phones... but installing CM 11 with all those instructions scattered everywhere just puzzles me...
i would thank anyone who would take on the issue and iron it for the average user.

I think I've been able to simplify some of the steps by making changes to some of the installation scripts. I just need to test it out, and to do that I need to reinstall the OUYA OS.
