Hello, my name is Oleg. Thanks to everyone who is related to Kodi development - it's really great.
Past two years I used to create embedded devices solutions (C++/JS) and SmartTV Applications. And first I came here with HTML5-JS App engine project (same idea http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=220842). But it looks impossible to do this alone during one summer and at least requires already implemented Web Browser, so...
I would like to submit a proposal for Web browser project. Web browser implementation for Kodi has a long history, so desirable by Kodi community implementation is not so clear to me, and I have couple questions to understand the project the right way.
1. Proposal page says that initial work on Web Browser implementation already exists, but I can't find it in available to me branches of repo. What is the current progress of the implementation?
2. Looks like the goal is to implement based on opensource engine (e.g. WebKit) integrated web browser with Kodi-UI-based 10ft UI for as many platforms as possible (all). When implementation becomes usable, browser launcher is going to be added to home screen. Is it correct?
3. Architecture of the solution is going to be clear after kodi and webkit codebase research. Is it a problem? I mean, there is a big step between solution that seems to be possible and absolute understanding what to do and how, and there is not enough time to provide solution-related diagrams before march 27th. Is the full description necessary before proposal approval?
4. Looks like there were a lot of attempts to implement a web browser for Kodi. What are the main reasons it is still not implemented?
