Not able to boot into any ISO
#1
Hello!

I'm having some issues. I'm having issues with all of the KodiUbunti Releases that are on the website.

I'm able to burn the images to disk, however when I boot into them my machine will instantly freeze and have graphical errors. I have windows installed on the hdd that i'm going to be using, and i'm able to boot into that with no issues at all, its only when I try to boot into the installers do I have issues. I'm not sure if i'm missing something, or doing something wrong...

Can you please provide some specs of the PC? The graphic part is most important. If your graphic card has no openGL support under Linux, neither OpenElec nor Kodibuntu will boot properly on your system.

If you are sure, that the graphic is not the problem (what I doubt, if you already get graphic errors), you could try using a USB stick and please explain which version of Kodibuntu you downloaded and how you created the stick/disc

Motherboard: MSI AM1I
CPU: AMD Athlon 5150
GPU: Build into Athlon, AMD Radeon HD 8400

I've tried installing via USB however I'm not able to do that either. When I try to boot to it, it will give a I/O error and fail loading the ISO. CD will at least boot, but instantly freeze and give graphics errors.

Forgot to include that ive tried Kodi 14.0, and xbmcbuntu 13.0. I'm burning the ISO's by just right click, burn disk. (Via windows.)

Just tried that and it does the same thing. Graphics errors, and a completely locked up system.

reset bios to defaults and try again.

Reset them to default and still get the graphics errors and the full system lockup.

Are you installing this CD to your system or are you running in live mode?

If you running in live mode only, then try installing it instead as live mode may not be best for the purpose.

I'm just trying to boot to the CD/USB Drive to install the system. It crashes/freezes when I boot to it.

Try openelec then but no idea, personally have zero experience with AMD stuff.

Tried that, has the same issue.

It appears to be that the hardware doesn't like the OS, cause i'm able to have windows run fine. I might just try installing Windows and Kodi over that. I'd much rather have the Kodiubunti however.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Yea, ask AMD to refund you your money. Big Grin

Seriously now try with http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=174854 with Ubuntu 64bit minimal trusty ISO https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Instal.../MinimalCD http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/t...t/mini.iso
