Let me try to be a bit more specific.
My source or the player is the TV. TV is connected to the AVR via HDMI connection (ARC on both devices). I have an HDD (with movies) connected via USB to the TV. On TV i run Kodi, to play the movie from the hard drive.
Settings are as follows:
TV setup:
Settings - sound - digital audio out - PCM
Kodi setup:
Sustem - Settings - System - Audio output
- number of channels: 5.1
- pass through enabled
Marantz sr5009 setup:
Setup:
Video - HDMI setup - HDMI control - on, pass through source-last, tv audio switching-off.
Video - video output - auto (dual)
Inputs - Input select - (input mode grayed out arc) - Decode mode - Auto
