Windows 10: How to install Windows Media Center Tutorial
#16
Windows 7 was deleted over a year ago. Clean install of 8.1 then clean Win 10 betas. I could reinstall 7 but it's just a spare test box. Had MSDN in the past so have lots of keys.

I get your point now. Yeah, the problem I am left with in v3 is that I either get an HDCP error or a subscription error whenever I try to start a live stream - but none of these channels are drm. I think this is also true of some of the people reporting on the MDL forum, but there is so much stuff flying around there I am not sure what the current status is. Very interestingly though is that serverwmc installed and recognized v3 with no issues AND it has no problem live streaming to kodi! Not sure what this means yet, but its a direction I like.

Try the Win10 DVD player install, initial reports are good

Yeah, that was a breakthrough you had. Unfortunately it didn't work for me. Possibly I have done this one too many times on this one system. I need to recharge my batteries and and think of what to try tomorrow. But really all I am after is to be able to upgrade my devel system to win10 but keep working on serverwmc - so that is looking really good.

Quick question for the forum. I have a number of pc's that are at windows 7 and 8 that I've been porting to Windows 10 with the exception of my two Windows 7 WMC machines. As windows 10 is free this year does anyone know if I do the install on those machines and then downgrade back to windows 7, do I have the windows 10 license permanently or do I loose it?

For the next 6 months I'm happy to leave these machines out of date, but eventually I'd like to get everything on the same platform.

You don't lose the ability to upgrade later to windows 10. I have gone from 7 -> 10 -> 7 multiple times now on my spare test machine.

After you install Win10, I believe you have 30 days to downgrade back to Win7 "easily". After 30 days, the Win7 windows folder is automatically clean off the drive. You can still return to Win7 but it is nolonger quite as easy.

Works well for me - but I don't have drm channels. Last I checked they can't get drm working. I have rev v5 installed on my surface pro 3 (I think they are up to v6 now). I also think there might be an issue with the speaker setup program inside wmc not working, but that may be resolved now.

I had trouble with v5 then tried v6 and everything initially worked great. A day later and some of my channels don't work through Kodi. I check WMC and it says something about system files being changed. I will continue to follow this but am really hoping SiliconDust releases their DVR software soon.

I just installed Media Center on Win 10 machine but it won't get the channels. It sees the HDHomerun tunners, but not the channels. I think the Win 10 firewall is stopping it. Please help.

You should take this problem to the win10 wmc forum on mdl.
