Ubuntu 14 and Nvidia Vdpau
#1
Hello,

Does any one has any idea if Kodi 15.1 Vdpau detection works? I remember seeing the item ticked under settings/video in another media center I had. I just built this new box and I don't see it any more.

With my GT640, going into nvidia-settings for 346.96 version, says Vdpau is running. So does vdpauinfo, says is enabled. But Kodi does not show a render option like I remember.

Did something change? or Do I have something broken?

Post your Debug Log. Check that you have set the settings to > advanced (wiki)
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Thanks Fritsch. Yes, I have expert mode turned on. No renderer option is shown.

Thanks much.

VDPAU is working. Your log is not a Debug Log as requested ... therefore I cannot see if you use a non supported skin.

Oh shoot! I forgot to turn that on. Sorry about that. Did it in a rush this morning. I can repost later today.

But, just so you know, I am using Transparency! Same as my last server. The Vdpau option worked well there inside Kodi.
In fact, the entire setup is practically the same. The only differences is of course the hardware. This is a Core 2 duo, the old box was a Pentium 4. And now I am running Ubuntu 14 Desktop, vs the old one which was Ubunbu 14 Server.

EDIT: Come think of it... and this I'd have to fire up the old box and verify but, I may have been running Nvidia 340-updates driver there and not this new 346. Not sure that matters, I thought I mention it.

Not sure if you meant the system video screen but at any rate here it is.

I tell you if there is a day I don't feel like an idiot, it would not feel right. Sad

10+ years using xbmc and I had been looking in the wrong place the whole time. I could have sworn this acceleration stuff was under system/video.

Here it is, although yours looks a lot better than mine. You have the cool VAAPI stuff.

I am very sorry to have wasted your time. I'll go crawl under a chair now. Smile

Lol ... you don't need VAAPI - disable it on your hardware. VDPAU is as mighty as VAAPI on your nvidia hardware.

Edit: And if you are at it: "Use HQ scalers when scaling above: 20%" please.
