v16 No DXVA playback on Windows 7 N [Solved]
#1
Operating System: Windows 7 N x64
Video Adapter: Intel Iris 6100 (on an Intrel i7 5557U)
Video Drivers: 15.40.10.4300 (Latest as of this post)
Kodi Version: 16 beta 3

Hello all,

According to ARK it supports DX11.2, but the Kodi log says:

Code:
19:34:06 T:2764  NOTICE: CRenderSystemDX::CreateDevice - Your video driver doesn't support DirectX 11 Video Acceleration API. Application is not be able to use hardware video processing and decoding

Kodi 15.2 has no issues with DXVA. Also my other machine (with an nVidia GTX770) works fine in DXVA mode in Jarvis beta 3.

Is this a Kodi problem, or another in a long line with the NUC5?

(edit: clarification, changed post title to reflect true problem)

Ugh, I figured it out...

I'm using Windows 7 N (EU-centric one without WMV and such), and I had installed the Media Pack, but it seems I needed to manually install the Windows 7 Platform Update (Windows6.1-KB2670838) for DirectX for DXVA to work right.

Marking as solved.
