v15 BDMV folder stacking
#1
I've been trying to get this to work properly, but cannot find a lot of information and the few posts I do find seem to suggest it does not work as intended.

Anyway, here's what I tried:

enabled Settings -> Videos -> File lists -> Combined split video items

added <folderstacking> to advancedsettings.xml

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<advancedsettings>
    <loglevel hide="true">-1
    </loglevel>
    <folderstacking>
    <!-- <cd/dvd/disk/disc> <0-N> -->
    <regexp>((cd|dvd|dis[ck])[0-9]+)$</regexp>
    </folderstacking>
    <video>
        <!-- VideoExtras: Section Start -->
        <excludefromscan action="append">
            <regexp>/Extras/</regexp>
            <regexp>[\\/]Extras[\\/]</regexp>
        </excludefromscan>
        <excludetvshowsfromscan action="append">
            <regexp>/Extras/</regexp>
            <regexp>[\\/]Extras[\\/]</regexp>
        </excludetvshowsfromscan>
        <!-- VideoExtras: Section End -->
    </video>
</advancedsettings>

And tried reorganizing the folder structure in multiple different ways:

General Trilogy Folder/Movie Folder/Movie Folder DISC#
General Trilogy Folder/Movie Folder DISC#
Movie Folder DISC#

Any help please?

What I did with LOTR 2 disc for the extended.
Covert them to ISO's
Then put them both in the same folder

And do they then appear as one file and play back gapless?

No. Each will display and when disc 1 is finished you have to start disc 2 even though both discs are in the same folder.
Going by memory, it seems to me, after watching disc 1, there was a prompt to start disc 2 in the Blu-ray menu and disc 2 started.
Not sure if it was LOTR or another 2 disc set?
Haven't seen the prompt in the menu on any other 2 disc sets since.
Not sure it has anything to do with KODI either?
Since the files are in an iso container, I don't think KODI can see any meta reference?

Ok, thanks for the reply but then it's not really worth the hassle IMO.

Would really like to use the functionality of folder stacking, can anyone confirm this is broken or am I doing something wrong?

It shows as one in library mode,
In file mode it should show as 2.
Not sure any more if I got a prompt.
Need to test it.
But can't do that before the weekend.
What do you mean with meta reference ?

In library mode with Combine split video items enabled and nothing added to advancedsettings.xml.

I have LOTR disc 1 and disc 2 in 1 folder.

With 'Group Movies in Sets' disabled, I have 2 entries. One for disc1 and one for disc2.

With 'Group Movies in Sets' enabled, I have 1 entry for the set.
When I enter the set, I have 2 entries for that title. One for disc1 and one for disc2.
The same goes for the other 2 LOTR titles so I have a total of 6 discs and posters for each displaying in the set.

If both discs are not displayed, I would have no way of starting each disc.
If I'm not mistaken, when I added them to the library, each disc was scraped and created 2 separate entries.
I assume if the files were not packed in an iso container and were file structure, KODI could stack them.
I also assume because they are in an iso container, the data needed to distinguish disc1 from disc2 and play them respectively is 'invisible'.
And my last assumption is that KODI reacts to folder and file NAME tags and not the data in the file itself.
This is why I'm confused as well as the OP.
I have tried every combo of name tags I could think of.
The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers 1 (2002)
The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers Disc 1 (2002)
The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers Part 1 (2002)
The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers (2002) CD-1

The goal of the OP's question is the same as mine I think?
After disc 1 is finished playing, KODI should start the next title if there is more than 1 file in a folder. Presently, it does not at least on my system using iso.
Jarvis RC2.

Seems there's a fix in the latest RC3 of Jarvis.
Going to give it a try tomorrow.

Fixes done in Release Candidate 3:

Fix selection of stacked multiple ISO files (movie.disc1.iso, movie.disc2.iso, movie.disc3.iso etc)

Using RC3 with Combine split video items enabled and iso's.

Library mode shows 2 entries still. Disc1 and Disc2.
Play disc1 and upon finishing exits dvdplayer and nothing else happens. Disc2 does not start.

File mode shows Disc1 only.
Play Disc1 and upon finishing exits dvdplayer and nothing else happens. Disc2 does not start.

installing RC3 + library scraping now to give it a test run,

Code:
i:\ServerFolders\Movies\The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)\THE_FELLOWSHIP_OF_THE_RING_CD1.ISO
i:\ServerFolders\Movies\The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)\THE_FELLOWSHIP_OF_THE_RING_CD2.ISO

with Isengard.

Library mode shows 1 entry for LOTR.
Play disc1 and upon finishing exits dvdplayer and nothing else happens. Disc2 does not start.

File mode not tested because Kodi should be used in Library mode Wink

RC3

Library mode shows 1 entry for LOTR.
Play disc1 and upon finishing exits dvdplayer and nothing else happens. Disc2 does not start.
