Decoding problem with Raspberry Pi when hardware decoding enabled.
#1
I've an add problem with decoding some avi files. Normally, everything is fine, but I have a collection of Oggy and the Cockroaches (my little son's favourite, so I can't ignore it :-)) that appear extremely blocky and have strange artifacts when viewed with hardware decoding enabled. With software decoding (and on PC, Mac, etc.) they look fine, but it's hard for the Pi to keep them synchronised. ATM, I'm guessing it may be a problem with the Pi itself, but I thought I'd start here. Are there any non-GUI settings that I can tweak?

Post the mediainfo of a file.
At a guess I'd say they might be using Hi10p (10-bit H.264) which isn't supported by hardware decoder.

Hi popcornmix, thanks for the reply. Is this what you were asking?

Okay, GMC/warp points is the problem. No hardware decoders support that.
Kodi Isengard and later switch automatically to software decode when GMC is detected. What kodi distribution/version are you using?

Pi2 should have no problem with software decode of this (640x480) video. Pi1 might struggle.
