Call to Arms: Combatting Trademark Infringement
#76
Thank you Nate, as I was going to say, I never actually use your logo on my site, which means the domain name could be anything.

One problem that you could have though is if someone registers as a business using the Domain e.g. kodigold, but has nothing to do with Kodi could you still legally take that away from that person?

Follow the Trademark Policy guidelines please:

And you can always email us and ask 'is this ok?'.

I've never been able to find an email. Can you give it to me please.

Can I confirm that the K on its own is OK to use looking at these images? http://kodi.wiki/view/Official:List_of_F...Trademarks

Technically maybe.. other companies have done the same (happened to us with XBMC for example) but we won't spend the time/money/effort to go after someone if there's no likelihood of confusion.

Thanks for pointing out we're missing just the K logo, I will get it added to the wiki page.

Presumably you won't have issues with http://www.kaseya.com/ ?

I don't, and I doubt the team will, altho I can't speak for them. They're a IT cloud company, the likelihood of confusion is very low and they're not profiting off the confusion.

My question is I have been using Classic Kodi Skins which I am guessing I can't any longer. Can I say Classic Skins for kodi? I just do skins using aeon nox and not builds. If I don't say kodi somewhere how will people know what they are?

No you cannot, as per the trademark policy:

Please post your questions in a new thread.

metalkettle is just trolling us, as Lunatikz said. He's a pirate addon developer and has never contributed anything to this community and I let it go on longer than I should have and I apologize. I have banned him for a month. I also moved the other guys posts out of here, since that account was only made to post here, as first post says. Let's get back on topic.

Are you at all concerned about losing goodwill when you adopt a position like this?
It just seems unreasonable and unjustifiable.
If Honda can live with me being a member of the Hondavfrclub forum and General Motors don't have a problem with the VauxhallOwnersClub - to pick a couple of examples from my bookmarks - why does Kodi have a problem with a site name that doesn't sound in the least confusing either?
