Did you 'Clear data' after you changed the Kodi setting - it's in Settings / TV / General?

That didn't work, same problem.

I have everything figured out except how to tell Kodi where to save and look for recordings, the guide channel numbering, and how to use the guide with the add in. When I press the guide button on my remote it just opens WMC.

I am seriously tearing my hair out. I am now learning that there is no "grid guide" with the HomeRun Add in.

---------------------------
https://www.silicondust.com/forum/viewto...92&t=20619

"There is no grid guide.

If you want to choose a program to record, click on discover, go to shows. You will see pictures of tv shows. Click on that picture, you can choose to either record or hide. When a rule is created, you'll want to make sure its set to recent as this will only record shows with an original air date in the last 90 days.

The ability to record specific channels at a specific time is not in this software yet. It is coming."

----------------------------
So there you have it. They must have written this software for drunk people who can't read a grid, and just want to click on silly pictures to watch TV. Lovely. I'm going to have to try to get a refund at this point. And if you look in this gem of a thread below, you will learn that you have to modify registry entries just to change where it stores recordings.

This is not Beta software, this is Alpha stage software. No way am I paying $60 for this. In fact I should have listened to pkscout. I'm sure Bry had the best of intentions, but the quote below is so true:

The SD one is brand new (in fact it's called "early access" so think BETA) and costs $60 for the privilege of helping them test it.

Tomorrow, I begin my battle with NextPVR (again). Goodnight.

Can't offer any further suggestions for the channel numbering, I'm afraid. I don't use the same back-end or PVR add-in.

Re storage of recordings, that's determined by the back-end software. Under the 'TV' tab, Kodi lists available recordings by interrogating the back-end software via the PVR add-in. It doesn't need to know where they are. The back-end streams the recording when you play it, again Kodi doesn't need to know where from.

Having said that...

It's a little bit down the line for you, I guess, but you might want to experiment with skipping adverts. Kodi can do that by detecting small files (eg EDL files) that tell it where adverts start and end. Not all back-ends do the same (DVBLink doesn't) so I have set up DVBLink's recordings folder as a source under Videos so I can watch recordings without the adverts.

Sorry, forgot to respond to the 'Guide button' issue...

WMC jumps in before other software to respond to the Guide button so - from memory when I was moving from WMC - it can be a bit messy to get it working with other software. FWIW, I have a reprogrammable OneForAll remote. I use the number keys to add extra features because - as an MCE remote - they are seen by Kodi as keystrokes so easy to remap in Kodi. To get the guide button working I extended that approach. I mapped the guide to my '9' key then reprogrammed the Guide button on my remote to generate a '9'. Hardly sophisticated, but it works.

I guess what you're finding is that WMC was a sophisticated bit of software that had a lot of good resource put into it at one time (especially considering how well it worked across so many national broadcasting systems). Matching that level of resource and know-how is not possible for any one provider (in the end it wasn't even possible for Microsoft!) so we now have to deal with a patchwork of 'solutions'. FWIW, I've tried to keep things as simple as possible and accept occasional compromise/clunkiness. Hopefully you'll get something working well for you soon.

If it wasn't Linux I would do it in a heartbeat. I just don't want to learn a new OS while trying to get this working. One day I will switch to FreeBSD, but until that day, I'm just another dumb Windows user.

Does anyone know if I were to use NextPVR with Kodi, would I be using the add on the whole time, or would I be able to use the Kodi interface and guide? In the SD DVR add on, I cannot use the Kodi guide for instance.

There are grid guides. I have live tv setup 4 or 5 ways with my hdhomerun for the fun of it. Zero issues.

Can you elaborate a little? First off, part of what you pay for with SD DVR is the guide data. Second, if I get those other add ons, don't I have to leave the SD DVR interface to access the guide? This has to be wife friendly...

I subscribed to the silicondust dvr via the kickstarter a long long time ago.

there is this add-on : http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=246658 which will give you the native grid/channel guide in the kodi Live TV Section. The guide data is limited though to I think 3 hours. You can ask in the thread. I don't know about recording either - may have been updated since they released their API.

pre-requisite: mc2xml or schedules direct xmltv.xml file. I use schedules direct personally.

I personally use PseudoTV Live for my tv viewing most of the time.

I have live tv setup in kodi via the IP TV Simple client that is in the default kodi install.

I have an m3u playlist file that looks like this

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1 tvg-id="channel ID from schedules direct xmltv.xml" tvg-logo="Channel Logo.png" group-title="USA",American Heroes
http://IP.OF.HD.HOMERUN:5004/auto/vChannel#/
#EXTINF:-1 tvg-id="channel ID from schedules direct xmltv.xml" tvg-logo="Channel Logo.png" group-title="USA",Reelz
http://IP.OF.HD.HOMERUN:5004/auto/vChannel#/
#EXTINF:-1 tvg-id="channel ID from schedules direct xmltv.xml" tvg-logo="Channel Logo.png" group-title="USA",FiOS1
http://IP.OF.HD.HOMERUN:5004/auto/vChannel#/

I have PseudoTV Live - pull the channels and guide data from the kodi pvr. pretty easy once you get the m3u setup.
