I've had this problem since my media center machine upgraded to Windows 10.
If the screensaver activates while a movie is paused, when I press any button other than Stop Playback, I'll hear the sounds, (the movie continuing to play, the or menu selection sounds), but the screensaver will stay on the screen.
I've upgraded to the latest version of Kodi and the latest AMD GPU drivers which fixed a lot of problems I had right after the computer updated.
