v17 Playback problems
#1
I'm trying to test Kodi 17 alpha 3 on my FireTV, but it isn't actually usable. I have no sound anymore and video playback is very choppy, stopping every few seconds and even displaying a wait animation for a moment in the middle of the picture.

I have installed over a previous installation of Kodi 16.1, using the same configuration settings that have worked fine so far with sound and smooth video.

Is this possibly an alpha-build isue and should I simply downgradeand wait, or is there something I can do to remedy this problem?

What media are you trying to play? Where is it stored, or how are you accessing it?

My data is stored on a samba server and accessed via SMB mapping.

I've done some more test with randomly selected TV show episodes and movies, and it seems videos with AAC or DTS sound seem to play fine, Dolby sound does not, however. Music also plays fine.

Sounds like it could be an alpha issue - can you gather a debug log (wiki) of a problem playback, upload it to pastebin.com and supply the link here so the dev's can look at it?

I've uploaded a log here: http://pastebin.com/K1vpVJbG

I have sanitized logins and some output from the database update.

I'm a +1 on this issue with the alpha 3 build.
I was just about to install the nightly to see if it still existed there, but I will hold off until dev's response.

Last time I looked the Android Alpha was woefully unstable.

For now, it's better to switch to SPMC or MrMC.

At least until Kodi gets an Android overlord.

* Ned Scott makes a mental note to try a nightly build on the Fire TV.

I'm now subscribed to this thread, so if you don't hear from me, just post and it will remind me ;)

retry with the default skin, please.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
