Would love to use kodi linux on a NUC if it supports HDR but I am told it doesnt.

They are different.
HEVC = is an overall video compression format
HDR = High Dynamic Range is focused on colors with extra brightness/contrast

Has anyone confirmed compiling FFMPEG and using FFPLAY with the nvidia support loaded actuall plays properly as an external player? (Sorry if im being lazy and missed it previously on this thread? )

I mean using the script that will compile and install a static ffmpeg build with support for nvenc un ubuntu.
